last night, i wrote that i'd be starting this group of changes today. it's a pretty small change, which mainly impacts the 'smoke' makefile target. i'm currently testing 'make smoke' now. i'm pretty confident all will go well, so this change should be committed in less than an hour. it only affects the root and languages makefiles, manifests, and obviously the util/ and tools/util/ directories. i'll update when i'm done, and request smoke reports from anyone who has the time. ~jerry
