The Senate Ethics Committee lawyer, Democrat Robert "Bob" Bennett, who
investigated Senator McCain and the Keating Savings & Loan debacle, and who
is also known for his representation of former President Clinton during the
Monica Lewinsky "semen on the blue dress" scandal, has pronounced Senator
McCain's innocence in this matter on numerous occasions. Just Recently Mr.
Bennett stated:

"First, I should tell your listeners I'm a registered Democrat, so I'm not
on (McCain's) side of a lot of issues. But I investigated John McCain for a
year and a half, at least, when I was special counsel to the Senate Ethics
Committee in the Keating Five. ... And if there is one thing I am absolutely
confident of, it is John McCain is an honest man. I recommended to the
Senate Ethics Committee that he be cut out of the case, that there was no
evidence against him."
