My guess is it’s because those who weren't predisposed to dismiss or disagree with Palin didn't see it the way you did.
I thought her demeanor was very good, very professional. She shouldn't need to apologize because she wasn't a stone cold, robotic, personality-free, male-wanna-be. She’s a professional woman who isn’t afraid of being a woman. My wife gave her a better grade than I did. Where I did feel uncomfortable with her was that she still doesn't have sufficient depth of knowledge in many areas, especially on international issues, and you could tell when the knowledge well ran dry and she'd spin off into some rhetoric that she apparently feels more comfortable with. McCain would have been wise to settle on her a month earlier and spend that extra month ingraining her with more facts and figures. There’s no substitute for knowledge, and no better way to show off that you don’t have it than to participate in a national debate.
