Rick, all, I'm sure this isn't a new thought, but it strikes me to mention that looking at the future of small technical conferences I think some transformation can go a long way.
In a nutshell: small attendance + interactive live feed + video archives = profitable, educational and entertaining. At least the potential is there. Good luck and best wishes.
