Our company was on the SF Peninsula for 30+ years. We always have our user
meetings in Las Vegas because of the cost to users. Las Vegas was about 1/10
the cost of Burlingame, CA when you consider the hotel and meeting room and
travel cost. No place is cheaper to get to than Las Vegas, from anywhere in
the world. Las Vegas can take care of a million people any day of the year.
We had our meetings at the Mandalay Bay and MGM grand. Both are cheaper than
the small places. You can have 150 people for under $1,000 plus
refreshments. What we did was go online and look at room costs. Pick a day
that has cheap rates because that means there are no major conferences like
the CES. Anything between October and May will have good weather. The summer
is cheaper, but it is very hot (but dry so better than Orlando at the same
temp). Of course everything is airconditioned so it is tolerable. Next year,
Las Vegas will open the world's tallest ferris wheel, taller than London.

I agree! As long as you'd be willing to pay for the hotel room, since
that's why the conference center costs what it does.

And pay an admission for the conference.

And pay for the broadcasting equipment!

But think what you can save in travel costs!
