The S&P 500 is fairly recent. There used to be only the S&P 100.
Try contacting S&P; I think that they are now part of McGraw-Hill The composition of both the S&P and the DJ averages has changes considerably over time so be careful with your interpretation of long term data. _____ From: [email protected] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of steinington Sent: Wednesday, April 12, 2006 7:29 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [quotes-plus] RE:Extended data for the S&P500 and Dow Gary, Not sure if anyone agrees with me, but it might be nice to get extended data for the S&P500 and Dow. It would be wonderful to go back to the 50s but if it's easy to do even going back to the turn of the century. I'm not even sure the S&P500 existed back then. Of course this may be of no use to those of us just focusing on stocks where 10 years is more than adequate to back test patterns but for those of us who trade the index it would be very useful, not to mention historical curiosity for those of us who read old trading memoirs. If it can be can done easily and database handle it and wouldn't take too much effort or cost that would be great but if not, I understand. Cheers, James Palmer _____ YAHOO!
