Dear List, This is an update to the query I sent earlier: I am having the following problem. I just installed a new version of R (3.3.1) on Ubuntu Trusty LTS, following instruction on CRAN website, but the associated packages which are installed as part of the base package (e.g. utils) get installed only as an old version 3.0.2. So, my question is why, if the installation of R 3.3.1 is successful, as indicated below, that such outdated packages like utils have been installed as part of this brand new R??? Using the older version of e.g. utils is causing me all sorts of problems, and because it is part of the base package, I don't seem to be able to install a newer version of utils. Any help would be greatly appreciated! many thanks,Juan Session Information below: R.Version() $platform [1] "x86_64-pc-linux-gnu"
