Position Announcement Position: Full Time Faculty Positions in Tourism and Events Management, Business, Geography and Mathematics Institution: George Mason University, Ras Al Khaimah Campus Location: Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates Date Posted: 15 June 2007 The Campus is seeking qualified Full Time faculty in the following areas beginning 14 August 2007. Tourism and Events Management Teach a variety of tourism and events management courses including introductory level courses; supervise student fieldwork experiences; contribute to the development and delivery of the Tourism and Events Management undergraduate program, and develop partnerships with public and private agencies. Geography Teach in the following areas: physical geography, cultural geography, GIS, remote sensing, and GPS. Mathematics Teach mathematics to non-majors covering all areas including pre-calculus, calculus, and analytical geometry. Business Administration (2 Positions) 1. Finance: Teach in any of the following fields: operations management, decision sciences, management information systems, statistics or computer science with an applied focus. Requires a terminal degree in any of the above fields. 2. International Business: Teach business communications, English, and marketing. Requires a terminal degree in marketing. Qualifications Successful candidates should meet the following criteria: a.. Excellent English skills, verbal and written b.. A thorough understanding of the challenges of building a new higher education institution in a rapidly expanding international environment c.. A commitment to building an American-based university in the region d.. Evidence of research, scholarship, or creative activities e.. Ability to integrate and use technology in the curriculum f.. Ability to interact effectively with both campus community and the broader community g.. Commitment to academic integrity, initiative, energy, flexibility, and creativity. All candidates will have responsibilities for student advising and program and curriculum development in addition to teaching. Classes begin 26 August 2007, and faculty are expected to be available for orientation on 14 August 2007. Faculty positions have a three year renewable contract with competitive salary and fringe benefits. Applicants are expected to have the appropriate academic credentials (earned doctorate or terminal degree from an American accredited institution or attested equivalent), as well as a minimum of two years successful post-secondary teaching experience. Faculty at the Associate or Full Professor level need to evidence an appropriate level of research.
