Fred,

ODBC might work, but I have a feeling pulling data from Excel into R:base
via ODBC will create an ongoing unnecessary headache.

I would just write a macro in Excel that will dump the data out of Excel
into an ASCII fixed field file and then load the file into R:base. I would
not use a delimited file because Microsoft has never seemed to be able to
grasp the proper format for a delimited file.

Now that I think about it, I think the latest verson of R:base for Windows
can Load an Excel file directly. I am not a 100% sure about that. Take a
look at the Syntex for the command LOAD on the R:base web site for the
current documentation.
