Well, the carabiner-to-belt solution seems to be the obvious, easiest, and
cheapest one. At least, it worked this morning and didn’t even jingle over
bumps as long as I clipped the C to a belt loop on the side instead of in
the front — when clipped to a front loop it jingled continuously. OTOH, the
damned carabiner did get caught in the threads at the back of the belt loop
and required fancy extrication.
