Is it not more obvious to call the >=4.2 'beta' versions, if that strategy is 
used. Virtually everyone knows a 'beta' version of software is subject to bugs.

I am personally of the opinion that many of the problems found in release 
versions could have been caught earlier if a beta version was produced after 
the 
last release candidate, and that beta version was available for everyone for a 
month or so, before the final release was made.
