I started making the changes requires to i18ize the notebook; see [1].
My first goal was to simply get another translation in and be able to
see the new strings, but that's not really working because of the
Unicode problems that Tim mentioned. After we get translation working,
we can add a drop-down in the notebook to switch languages, and then we
can start soliciting translations.
