Since nobody answered I figured it out myself how it works. Opened a ticket on this. see http://trac.sagemath.org/sage_trac/ticket/10009 . This would need testing, it is only tested on ubuntu 10.04 with latest NVIDIA developer drivers, and CUDA toolkit. I use a geforce 9500 GT.
