To be honest that's something we don't want/like to make.
We see more negative effects of it then possitive.
Most issue will be time issues, people that badly configure the check will
get a check that takes "ages" to complete.
Try counting
c:\
*.*
on a 200gb drive....

Another feature request I'd have is that countfiles could count subfolders
and their files.
I use countfiles external checks to keep an eye on the incoming and invirus
folders on the different mail nodes in our modusMail cluster, but recently
they've made these folders hierarchial, and so I've hadta go jury-rig up a
little vbs job to do what countfiles used to. :/

The countfiles com add-on on http://www.woodstone.nu/salive/addons.asp has
been updated.
The pattern can now be more "flexible", it can now incorporate the current
time and/or date.
This can be usefull to check if a logfile that contains the current date
within it's name is available or not.
Syntax to be used (within the pattern) is the same for the contains part of
the HTTP/HTTPS check.
(
Example:
if you want to check if
mydatabase_db_20040818.log is available
(and the next day for mydatabase_db_20040819.log)
then use as pattern:
mydatabase_db_{yyyymmdd}.log
if you want to check for a file that is created every hour:
log1720040818.log
log{hh}{yyyymmdd}.log
)
