[Changing subject to reflect reality] I don't really understand what it is all about, as I initially said. But I've been told on freebsd IRC channels to post the issue to freebsd-emulation list, which I'm Cc'ing now, and if noone there answers, also to John Baldwin <jhb@FreeBSD>.

And maybe together we can come out with a more elegant solution to this issue, or maybe to confirm (or deny) that the proposed patch is a right thing to do.
