I'm still waiting for the truly great set that makes *everyone* go "wooo"! Some have come close, but nobody has claimed the prize yet. You all know what I mean ... Hmmm, although I will agree that set up is important, I also feel that the dj should be able to play and be interactive with crowds whatever set up is there. Rock star or no rock star. Think about any other huge, open-air event. You gotta rock! The real problem is the damn screen playing film loops instead of projecting what the performer is doing and/or djs who can't keep the groove going in a open-air set up (i.e. jim masters). g. P.S. Cy, I owe you a email...been crazy busy. Cyclone Wehner wrote: You're not gonna get really amazing sets until the space between the crowd and DJ is worked out. That's why the after parties were so special, they were intimate andyou could feel it. I even liked St Andrews Hall, at least you can see and feel. DJs like Kenny, Stacey and Laurent are very interactive (I only say these as I have seen they play really memorable sets). You couldn't even see Stacey's face because of some wack banner at the stage near the river (forgot its name - was it Motor?) and watching dude is such a treat. Unless they borrow some of DJ Rush's platform boots or something. Plus in the arena they need to use those screens. It was a set up for a rock star, not DJ culture. My favourite stage was the one that Eddie Fowkles and Alton Miller played on as it was close to the people and almost at their level. Or even the underground one. There was this one wide eyed kid from somewhere like Ohio who told me "Paul Oakenfold is gonna play as a suprise." I had to explain to him a few things, like, dude, trust me, that ain't gonna happen. oh it didn't surprise me as much as this kid asking kurt from drop bass if the second coming was his second party. gotta love dumb ohio promoters. especially ones that fall out of their limo coming to a party cuz they're in too big of a k hole. i just get a lil salty when dumb kids don't know the history. it's something i always felt obligated to learn. respect for the elders in a sense. knowing where it all comes from and having a good idea of where it is going. *shrugs* not just MY favorite music but a good comprehensive knowledge of music in general in the scene (and otherwise). not that i'm all well versed in opera or happy hardcore either, but i at least have SOME semblance of a clue in life. that's just me though and my approach on all things. of course i shouldn't expect others to do the same or be surprised if they don't care. i guess i just get disappointed. lauryn. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: [313] dodgy Canton promoters
Well... To offer a counterpoint to Mr. Giannelli, I've worked with Planetraver quite a bit and have had no problems with them. Period. For other references, speak with Disco D, Minx, DJ Seoul, Eclipse (Greg Montgomery), Wilhelm K, and Laura Hardgrove. This was but one unfortunate situation of theirs. Christian Bloch, Ryan Brogan, DJ Godfather, Disco D, myself, G-Major, and Derek Plaslaiko (among others) were all at the last TechMoto Fest and I got paid for my services without a problem. BTW, Planet Raver is/was not the sole promoter of this event. Just had to get that out.
