Thanks for the clarification, Jack! -Bruce, N1RX -Original Message- From: Jack Brindle [mailto:jackbrin...@me.com] Sent: Sunday, April 03, 2011 8:03 PM To: Bruce Beford Cc: elecraft@mailman.qth.net Subject: Re: [Elecraft] K3, P3 & KPA500 No, it is more than that. We have implemented a command set for the KPA that will allow you to monitor and control its operation. This is very important for users who wish to use the KPA500 remotely. The K3 Utility will make very good use of these commands to show what the KPA500 is doing and allow you to control it. Of course the command set will be published so others can implement KPA500 control features in their programs. You are correct that the KPA and K3 communicate through the Aux signals. We also have interfaces for transceivers from other manufacturers, and the option to allow the KPA500 to determine the proper band as well. This latter works incredibly well, detecting a new band and switching in well less than a dit time. The KPA500 is definitely worth waiting for. But the wait should soon be over... Re: [Elecraft] K3, P3 & KPA500
I believe this PC connection is only for firmware updates for the KPA-500. the "operational link" between the K3 and KPA-500 is via the ACC connector. Correct? -Bruce, N1RX > Jack Brindle wrote: > The KPA500 is not in the chain. Re: [Elecraft] K3, P3 & KPA500
The KPA500 is not in the chain. It needs its own connection to the PC. So your chain will look like: Computer Port 1 <-> KPA500 Computer Port 2 <-> PE <-> K3 Jack Brindle, W6FB On Apr 3, 2011, at 2:27 PM, Toby Deinhardt wrote: > I was just wondering, what will be the recommended chain of devices on > the RS232 line? > > a) Computer <-> P3 <-> KPA500 <-> K3 > > or > > b) Computer <-> KPA500 <-> P3 <-> K3 > > vy 73 de toby > __ > Elecraft mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net > > This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net > Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
