I always thought you could bill for three due to three distinguishable staining patterns. It sounds like the difference between a double-stain (two different chromogens) and a single stain using an antibody cocktail. I still don't think we're doing it correctly, because we're billing for three, but at least it sounds like we can bill for two, which seems logical. Have others heard something different? Our billing manager said the same thing. If the antibodies are being applied separately, you can bill for each one. If antibodies are being mixed and applied at the same time, you can only bill for one. It sounds like the difference between a double-stain (two different chromogens) and a single stain using an antibody cocktail.
