RE: Suse 9, [kacpid] and display of "ps"
This is the power management kacpid daemon (in both Ubuntu and Suse 9): It has a known CPU overrun issue (in both distros): http://linux.derkeiler.com/Mailing-Lists/SuSE/2005-07/1975.html http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=399619 You can disable it: http://tech.jsemmanuel.com/2008/03/kacpid-hogging-up-cpu.html additional useful commands for process identification: netstat -anp | more lsof | less ps waux see also pci devices: lspci > To: plug-discuss@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us > CC: > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Date: Wed, 22 Oct 2008 22:18:22 -0700 > Subject: Re: Suse 9, [kacpid] and display of "ps" > > In article <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> you write: > > if it shows up in a PS then its running ;-) > > > > however kacpid is just the type of acpi daemon k probably the KDE > > implementation of it if took a guess. > > In this case, the k stands for kernel.
