*Solutions Architect - Application Rationalization*

Location: Auburn Hills MI

Duration: Long term contract

*Job Description:*

· The Solutions Architect works with management within the IT
organization, directing and creating solution architectures to support the
development.

· Ensures solution architectures in their domain adhere to
enterprise architecture technical and functional strategies, policies,
standards and practices.

· Provides solution design input to projects and initiatives for
purposes of planning and implementation.

· Maintains awareness of business and technology plans and best
practices in their domain. Supports business case justifications for
enhancement or changes to the domain and enterprise architectures based on
that information.



*Required / Desired:*

· Minimum 5-7 years in related business, business process
improvement or information technologies work. Development of IT
Architecture on multiple major global applications or infrastructure
projects is required.

· Responsible for defining *application modernization,
optimization, rationalization, conversion, and migration* for an assigned
project and is equally responsible for the successful implementation.

· Demonstrates the required levels of technical skills. Applies
professional mastery and industry-wide understanding of technology, tools
and methodologies to develop solutions in leading edge or critical
situations, on projects.

· Work with peer solution architects to drive overall architectural
convergence, and governance.

· Provide solution architecture leadership with their domain

· Identify improvements to domain and enterprise processes, as well
as capture and share best practices, across the enterprise and within their
domain

· Responsible for defining application modernization, optimization,
rationalization, conversion, and migration.

· Responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships
with clients and vendors.

· Identify and evaluate options for application modernization based
on a detailed analysis and discovery of the application software and make
recommendations for a target architecture and modernization roadmap based
on business value.

*Qualifications:*

·Oversee client solution design, any custom development,
implementation, testing, operational support and security.  Strive for cost
effective solutions with appropriate level of uptime.

·Manage the team to implement and support Web components; integrated
with external partner components using emerging development technologies.

·Provide expertise/guidance/considerations on the balance of speed
to market against long term maintainability.

·Assume the lead responsibility in the architecture design and
creation of web-based consumer products.

·Develop long-term strategy product development

·Perform systems analysis, design, programming, systems integration
and testing of online apps

·Provide functional & technical expertise/guidance to peers and
other teams

·Create project plans, business requirements documents, technical
specifications, test plans, technology and development standards, & release
guidelines

·Troubleshoot complex technical problems, manage release problems,
and resolve data problems

·Lead by example & act in hands-on development capacity to mentor
team members



*Requirements*

·Prior experience leading and managing developers in the design and
implementation of WEB based consumer-facing products in either .NET or Java
environments.

·Knowledge of point of sales systems, retail/grocery systems, and/or
coupon industry a plus.

·Previous experience with implementing packaged software for
customers. Ideally a SAAS or ASP solution.

·Mastery of the following:

·C#/.NET and/or Java development tools, best practices &
technologies

·HTML, CSS, AJAX, XML, and Web Services

·Knowledge of:  UNIX/Linux, C, C++, MySQL, SQL Server and Oracle is
a plus

·Proficiency in relational database design & SQL programming
(Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle)

·Mastery of complex, web-based application development practices
(agile methodologies including Scrum and eXtreme)

·Deep understanding of best practice software design, including SOA

·Very strong technical troubleshooting & team/relationship building
skills

·Strong business analysis, technical writing, and database modeling
skills

·Solid organizational skills with ability to set clear objectives &
manage multiple priorities

·Excellent oral and written communication skills

·8 – 15 years relevant professional experience, including
customer-facing experience
