[SlimDevices: Touch] Using digital output only, should I go for the Touch or spend $1000 on a Transporter
Greetings from a new member. I have been lurking here for a while trying to decide whether to get a Touch. The digital out on the touch have a lot of positive reviews, but it's probably not as good as Transporter. The question is whether the difference would be worth $700. Perhaps the DAC on the Transporter is so good that I can retire my $700 DAC and use it alone? It's so hard to decide when there is no chance for auditions. The Touch suits me better convenience wise, since I will be actually using the touch screen. Anyway, I'd love to hear some advice. -- orcinus orca orcinus orca's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=39011 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80128 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Dummy Questions from a new SB Touch Owner
Hello thanks once again for your replies. I tried typing the following into the run box from the start menu \\192.168.1.30 this is the address given by the touch. I get the error message "\\192.168.1.30 the network path was not found" I have managed to use WINSCP to access the files on the touch and have loaded the modded file to disable analogue output. Is there anything else I can check? [SlimDevices: Touch] Music Folder "empty" problem
I have recently added a larger hard-drive for my touch music files, and transferred the touch library setting to look at the new drive, then rescanned, and all the recent albums are in "new Music" and in "Albums",and "artists" folders, but all my files that were there under "music folder" are not accessible and it shows "empty". I run vista on the PC and the drive is formatted to be accessible as a shared drive and it does see the files and uploads them but it does not see the music folder as it did previously under ie.female vocal, rock groups etc.. I have cleared the cache in SB server and rebooted the touch many times. has anyone had a similar problem? Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Squeezebox Touch and USB Flash Drive
Can you be more specific about your steps and what precisely you see on the screen? This should work, and it would help if you could provide more details. Also, could you list the manufacturer and model of USB drive? It would be helpful if you listed the contents of the USB drive also -- how many tracks, the type of tracks (MP3? AAC? FLAC?) However, I know from personal experience that if you want to remove a USB flash drive regularly from a Touch, you'll need to carefully follow the right procedure (i.e., follow the Touch menus for USB drive to remove it) -every time-. I've done my share of yanking out that USB drive (flash or hard drive) incorrectly. When I do that, I've noticed that -sometimes- the drive will no longer be recognized by Touch unless you run something like the XP Error-checking tool. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265 After I run it, my drive will be recognized again ... or until I make a mistake again. Could you try running that tool (or something similar) and then trying it again with a Touch? I really believe it is your 3rd reason that affects some peoples systems but not others. That is why when we diff the DAC nothing shows - it's NOT the DAC output that is changing... it could be what comes out of the pre-amp/power-amp...because of what is being re-injected back into the mains (or maybe RFI). The Touch has internal switchers inside it after the DC Mains (even for the 5VDC power) so adding a linear power supply should have no affect whatsoever unless ones OEM PS stopped working! The external 5VDC goes to an internal switcher to be stepped up to 10VDC so it can be regulated with an internal linear 5VDC PS. Seems kind of silly to go from AC mains to External Linear 5VDC PS then stepped up internal switching 10VDC to internal linear 5VDC. So I see four reasons to upgrade the OEM supply. [SlimDevices: Touch] Squeezebox Touch and USB Flash Drive
Hi together To get a better understanding for my problem, here's what i want to do. I have a car radio with USB, where i can put my USB Flash Drive into with all the Sound on it which i actually like the most. I bought the Squeezebox Touch because i thought i could take the same flash drive when coming home, put it into the Squeezebox Touch, start it and listen to the same sound than in my car. but it looks like the squeezebox has some problems when you plug the USB flashdrive off and insert it again... doesn't matter if i eject the drive or just pull it off... after re-inserting the USB drive i am no longer able to access the music on the flash drive... the only thing that helps is to pull power of from squeezebox, plug-in USB drive and restart squeezebox... my question is: is there any possibility for getting plug'n'play to work with squeezebox touch?? i just want to take my flash drive with me and re-insert it when coming home and having access to the music on it... if it would take 2 minutes to rebuild database or something it wouldn't matter, but once pulled of, after re-inserting there is no other way to listen to my music than power off and on... does anyone know a solution to that? regards -- Jobinoy Jobinoy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38996 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80119 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
