I've been thinking of getting one of these, however, have not bought one
as I'd have to hear it first and that's pretty impossible. The shear
anmount of components (caps especially) in it has worried me a bit too.
It seems there is a lot to go wrong/out of spec etc.
I'd be very interested in your
Actually, overall, I'm VERY pleased with the Squeezebox paired with the
Benchmark. The Benchmarks "razor sharp" resolution was exactly what I
found lacking with the stock SB. Together, they bring out the best in
95% of my collection. However, the remaining 5% are older or poorly
recorded redboo
I find it interesting how many people buy the Benchmark due to its razor
sharp resolution and then spend lots of cash to tame it down. I
auditioned several dacs and the Benchmark has a great transparency but
left me cold. I'm not sure that tubes will ultimately fix your problem
but a used X10D wou
Hi,
I am glad you like yours. Mine keeps getting better and better. I
upgraded the coupling caps with Sonicaps and added a pair of Amperex
6DJ8 Bugle Boys from the early 1960s. Sound quality improved
considerably.
I usually power mine up two hours before any serious listening. I only
left it run
I installed both, haven't figured anything yet.

BTW, reread my post...didn't mean to sound short with you. Just that a
lot of questions can be easily answered by just trying it!
Slimserver's a free and easy install, and don't forget to try out
softsqueeze. Even if your box doesn't arrive before the weekend you
can have a good old time this w

While waiting my hardware to arrive, I'd start to play with the
slimserver.
90% of my music are classical, so I prefer than to be a single image

I seem to remember Fry's being mentioned by Jabberwockie publicly.
Anyway, I stopped by there today and got the model number. It's Context
Engineering (Santa Clara, CA) #4012H-6B. Fry's (or "Outpost"- the Web
division) model # 209
I'd been using an all marantz combo (66 KI SIG amp and matching 63 KI
SIG cdp)quite happily, but the amount of discs overtaking my room was
starting to irritate me, which is why I went for the sb3/qnap combo.
I've been using an m-audio superdac between amp and sb3 and just sent
that off to have s
I'd go along with that Azur comparison - maybe even a bit higher up the
food chain for older CDP's.

I have had my lite dac60 for a few weeks now (shipped direct from HK to
the UK) and I must say I'm impressed with the build and the sound. With
no UK dealership service may be a problem, but then it is half the
price of other comp
Have on order a dac for mine, a Digital Storm DO2, my system is for
headphones only. Check out the links. Highly rated over on the Head-Fi
forums, even over the DAC-1. Can't wait to get it.
