You can use "emerge -f" on the machine with internet access and place
the downloaded files from /usr/portage/distfiles into the same directory
on the machine without internet access. I assume there is also ftp
access to the tarballs so you could use that instead of "emerge -f"

Hi
I recently got hold of a live-cd containg gentoo stage1,2 and 3 tarballs and a
few packages. I read through the /usr/share/doc/install.txt and also read the
portage manual and guide. I find the whole portages/emerge idea very
interesting and would like to give it a try, except I have the lit
I believe iptables is in system.

You might check man xterm or man X. I believe I found
some of the codes in one of those.

Hi all,
I accidentally compiled xfree-4.2.1-r2 with the "3dnow" use flag turned
on. I think it compiled in some kind of 3dnow support for OpenGL
applications because when I run programs that use OpenGL (like tuxracer)
they crash with "Illegal Instruction". I removed the use flag (i.e. -3dnow

Is there an easy fix? Is the system doomed? Should I just make a cup of tea
and cry?
Try running regenworld. It will double check your world file.
Hello
What is the current situation with ACPI? Today, acpi-sources
disappeared off the portage tree completely and doesn't even appear in
searches. Also, the version of ACPI on gentoo-sources is from 22 Nov
2002. Is there a way to get a more recent version of ACPI in any kernel
like gaming-sour

Every time I try for an emerge world, I get a series of "Package in world file
is not installed" yadda yadda yadda messages.
