(313) (ot) moderne
have been listening to this album by moderne on the label ariola, from 1981... they sound like telex. but a bit of a more serious, spacious, delicate touch..a bit more kraftwerky..lovely. as essential as old telex, ymo, etc.. does anyone have any info on them? are they belgian as well? (telex sideproject!? sounds like..french lyrics very similar) other albums? can find very little info online.. jt _ Add photos to your e-mail with MSN 8. Re: (313) Best Drexciya
Has anyone mentioned 'Sightings in the Abyss'? Something about that track is sooo spooky, I just wish it was longer. 'Wavejumper' on the flip is probably equal for me, it seems totally live. I guess both tracks were recorded live and jammed out, they sounds raw as f*ck, but very funky. Drexciya Forever

Re: (313) Madonna again
Ah damn, if they'd only let her pass by unnoticed then it would keep her out of the limelight. This was basically a stunt to keep her name in the papers - does anyone actually think that she believes this is going to cause anyone to have guilt over downloading her songs? Now she's the source for other people's tunes as well. She's a shrewd business person. She also knows how pop culture works. Re: (313) Swedish Techno/ was Every Dog 4
Okay several points here: in response to you: That's a tired old stereotype, why continue to generalize Swedish techno? It's not too much to ask for people to be a little more specific with names (more current names and labels) instead of "Swedish techno sucks, it's too monotonous and same sounding" When it comes to the criticism of monotonous, loop based techno, "bangers" if you will. I fail to understand this type of logic especially form people who are not from the Jeff Mills or Marco Carolla school of thought when it comes to mixing records. I personally enjoy a good hard hitting set of monotonous techno, in fact I find it rather refreshing, it get's my adrenaline flowing, especially when it sounds all abstract and distorted on a loud system. on 5/12/03 10:01 AM, Fabrizio Nahum at [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > I tend to lump Carolla and Zenit with that >> sound too even though its a bit different and not even swedish.. > > i reccommend antezenit 014 (zenit's limited edition sister label) - > detroit-ish chords driven techno, reminded me of Aril Brikha.. Re: (313) s knight
only a bit short, not that much tracks, and not much new material several already were released on transmat or underground resistance. i only count those 3 previously released ones (?), so 5 new ones..not bad..! it is a bit short but satisfying. but apart from that, very very good quality all around, darker tracks come together with more melodic pieces especially on vinyl, which comes in three pieces of vinyl see thats nice but that breaks my wallet...5 tracks for $25 or something i guess...i know doing an album was the whole point but i wish the best of those 5 new ones just came on a single 12"...album sampler 12" or something. the moodymann album is pretty short too. - Original Message - From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <313@hyperreal.org> Sent: Tuesday, May 13, 2003 3:00 AM Subject: (313) s knight > > somebody got suburban knight on pfrog yeah ? > > is good ? what style ? i don't know much of james stuff but like what i > have heard. any short review-like posts deeply welcome. thanx. > > p > > _ Add photos to your messages with MSN 8. Re: Re: (313) Moodymann Ltd edition Peacefrog ep
Hmm, feel a bit sorry for the peacefrog heads getting a bit of a hard time. There could be any number of reasons why it's a limited run record. I mean, they're obviously not doing it to make loads of money are they? so why the hard time? Maybe it's just a piece of ART? the music, the cover etc, and will just be a nice package to have. Wouldn't everybody on the list like to be involved in doing something like that? It'd be great, I know I would. anyway, they're on the list aren't they? I'm sure if they were arsed about it enough they'd pipe up to explain their reasons. But they haven't, and I think they probably think 'f**k it, we bust our balls paying for an LP from MoodyMann, lets do something we want for a change'. and why not? they've been a consistently great label, obviously providing underground artists with money and a platform for their music for many years, so perhaps they deserve their little indulgences every once in a while. thats what I say anyway. and, no. I haven't got one. YET. but I am a determined type, and I have a baseball bat ready for the riots when they land in Manc. _ - End of message text This e-mail is intended only for the person to whom it is addressed. Re: (313) introducing... Sturmey Archer
It's a cover of 'Shack Up', not a remix, and was on their FACT2002 EP on Optimo Singles Club records, alongside a great version of 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' and one of Section 25 'Looking From A Hilltop'. Every time I play 'Love...' people come up and ask about it. Think the EP might be hard to find now, but try the Optimo site for starters. Bis, in the meantime, have announced they're splitting and recently did a farewell tour. There's a Bis site somewhere, have a search. Their version of 'Shack Up' is also on a US-only EP they did which also had remixes by Adult, Ectomorph and Tommie Sunshine and is well worth finding for anyone who likes a bit of pop with their electro. (313) DJ BOX Warning
Hi, If you are travelling to Spain, be-aware that lots of record boxes are going missing at the moment, Jim Masters had his stolen a couple of months ago and now Cristian Vogel has had his stolen. My advice is put your record box in a cardboard box and tape it up and send it through like that or convert a big plastic case to hold your 12's, if you just send your box through on it own, there a good chance it will get stolen... This 12" also has IMHO one of the finest Acid House tracks ever commited to vinyl... well worth picking up (If you can find it)! -Original Message- From: Placid [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 13 May 2003 10:11 To: marsel; 313 Subject: Re: (313) mr fingers - i'm strong No, it was also released on a 6 tracks ep on jack trax Here http://www.discogs.com/release/134899 On 12/5/03 10:57 pm, "marsel" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > looking for.. > > mr fingers - i'm strong > > an instrumental version > > > is it only on R&S Records? > > RS901 Fingers Inc. - I'm Strong (12") > > no where else? > > >

Re: (313) s knight
i think it's a very consistent album only a bit short, not that much tracks, and not much new material several already were released on transmat or underground resistance. but apart from that, very very good quality all around, darker tracks come together with more melodic pieces especially on vinyl, which comes in three pieces of vinyl - Original Message - From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <313@hyperreal.org> Sent: Tuesday, May 13, 2003 3:00 AM Subject: (313) s knight > > somebody got suburban knight on pfrog yeah ? > > is good ? what style ? i don't know much of james stuff but like what i > have heard. any short review-like posts deeply welcome. thanx. > > p > >

Wow! That's a name I haven't heard since the glory days of Zoots coffee house. Princess Dragonmom is the performance art project of Warn Defever (His Name is Alive). Musically, its basically grinding noise. But the performance itself usually involves costumes, giant cardboard giraffes and elephants and a bunch of zaniness. Their best performance that I've seen was at Alvin's when they opened for Blonde Redhead (the most romantically charged live music performance I've ever seen in my life). PDM set up on the floor and did a psedo Mexican-wrestling show while the crowd waved penents and banners that read "Princess Dragonmom". I'm not really sure how it would play out at a space as large as Hart Plaza. This line-up is getting more and more interseting. Ultra-conservative (obvious) techno and house meets ultra-experiemtal noise convolutions (Wolf Eye/PDM). Re: (313) Another surprising Movement addition
princess dragonmom are noisey. VERY noisy. i wouldntve thought that they could go beyond that realm past Wolf Eyes, but alas i have been proven wrong. lemme put it this way. 15 mins after princess dragonmom are done, someones probably going to flip out and kill someone. that is, of course, if they dont venture off into the 3 other stages. i however will be eating it up, smiling, crying, and laughing all within one step of each other numerous times over. in short, if you dont like merzbow, you will most definantly want to hear ANY of the 3 other stages at that point in the day. and if you do decide to check them out...look for me. ill be eating the biggest bratwurst my money can buy at that stage of the day. word up. derek. Less of a surprise and new to the line-up is Recloose btw. KJ > An act called Princess Dragonmom has been added to the Movement 2003 > line-up. (313) Another surprising Movement addition
An act called Princess Dragonmom has been added to the Movement 2003 line-up. Never heard of them, but this is what i found about one of their releases: Tracks by PRINCESS DRAGONMOM are very harsh and aggressive. Many people have an interest to just performance (it's like RIOT by them and audience!!!) but sounds in this CD are really strong and great. imagine HARDROCK spirit in Detroit, for example MC5!!! Re: (313) s knight my sol dark direction
somebody got suburban knight on pfrog yeah ? yeah! my sol dark direction is good ? what style ? i don't know much of james stuff but like what i have heard. any short review-like posts deeply welcome. thanx. is good! it's old and new stuff i think. definitely some old classics -- art of stalking, nocturbulous behavior and midnight sunshine are included...a couple pretty nice electro tracks like shapeshifter (repeated vocal "shapeshifter", dark strings, pretty tough) and collaboration alpha (actually sounds a lot like dutch electro, i-f'y bassline..but deep detroit pads)...also a couple new (i think) techno ones, true to the game has one of those nice low slung basslines and real nice subtle little touches, dubby echoes, voices, my favorite off the album..roundtable chronicles has a classic dx bassline, real nice..niagara falls reminds me a bit of lowkey bubbling juan techno (nice whispering vox too) but not nearly as good. but still pretty good. ha. overall a pretty "pure", nothing fancy, but solid, deep album l of detroit techno. will hold up to repeated listens well, i give it 8/10 i think.. jt _ MSN 8 with e-mail virus protection service: 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/virus
