(313) Fw: Acid attack in USA
This showed up in my email. At first I was excited because I'm always up for some good acid (especially after just grabbing a copy of "7 Ways to Jack" at K-Starke Records in Chicago last weekend, marking off one of my longstanding top 10 searches). But oh well, it turned out to be spam after all :) Have a great Thanksgiving (to all in the US), with no acid after effects unless you're listening to one of Placid's great mixes :) .. I'm actually in the air later in the day and heading to Berlin (just for Friday night) and then Poznan, Poland for the UN climate meeting. cheers Fred -- mail forwarded, original message follows -- From: some spam address Subject: [0discard] Acid attack in USA Date: Wed, 26 Nov 2008 18:06:10 -0800 (PST) About this mailing: You are receiving this e-mail because you subscribed to MSN Featured Offers. <> Microsoft respects your privacy. <> If you do not wish to receive this MSN Featured Offers e-mail, please click the "Unsubscribe" link below. <> ...
(313) CHICAGO - FRI.11/28 - DANIEL BELL w/ DJs JOHN PATTERSON + AUDIOPHILE @ SONOTHEQUE
Hello Chicago-area 313 friends- Please join us as we welcome our old friend DAN BELL back to Chicago for his first ever performance at Sonotheque. Two other Chicago techno vets, JOHN PATTERSON and AUDIOPHILE play their first ever tag team set together in what will surely be a masterpiece of techno turntable trickery. A preview of sorts for Jackson's upcoming 2009 move to Sonotheque, this also serves as an opportunity to work off that turkey and tofurkey... come get crunk! == == EMPTY BOTTLE, MEIOTIC & APSERPS PRESENT * A Jackson Preview Event * Fri.NOVEMBER 28th - THANKSGIVING FRIDAY Our very special guests... >DANIEL BELL (aka DBX - from CT/Berlin) (labels: Accelerate, Logistic, 7th City, ~scape, etc) >JOHN PATTERSON (Koncept - Chicago) vs AUDIOPHILE (Meiotic - Chicago) VENUE: SONOTHEQUE ADDRESS: 1270 N. MILWAUKEE COVER: $10 @ the door TIME: 9PM-2AM REDUCED RSVP here: http://www.chicago.going.com/danbellsonotheque ADV TIX: http://www.emptybottle.com INFO: http://www.meiotica.com == DANIEL BELL (from CONNETICUT.BERLIN) (Accelerate.Logistic.7thCity labels) http://www.myspace.com/xdanielbellx What more can be said for Minimal Techno's quintessential artist, whose previous performances for us at THREAT, YFL(06 + 07) and DEFENDER 2 have been nothing short of classic. Known for his influential early 90's releases as DBX, as well as for his early collaborations with Richie Hawtin as Cybersonik on Plus 8 records, Daniel Bell's status as a "pioneer of minimal" is well documented, his productions characterized by house grooves accented by blips and bleeps. His tracks early on featured bizarre voice effects and eerie atmospherics (Losing Control1994), and these same staple elements would become cornerstone aspects of modern techno, his influence on modern electronic music producers easily apparent. Following a summer that has seen him reconstruct his DBX live set at clubs throughout Europe and at the DEMF, we hope you can join us as we welcome the man back for another signature Dan Bell DJ set! JOHN PATTERSON + AUDIOPHILE (Koncept + Meiotic) Now, we've REALLY been looking forward to making this one happen for awhile; JOHN PATTERSON + AUDIOPHILE play their first tag team set together in what we know will be a special aural treat. Representing the Koncept crew, JOHN PATTERSON has been firing up Chicago audiences for more than 10 years with his flawless three turntable techno sets. Not one to sit idly by and follow musical trends, his sound has moved and grown in all directions, divergent from the modern techno template. John plays tonight with Vladimir aka AUDIOPHILE, one of the key components to the Meioticsoundsystemdjz. Vlad's Detroit + European influences are firmly rooted in Chicago jack, and has provoked dancefloors alongside the varied likes of DERRICK MAY, ELLEN ALLIEN, GREEN VELVET, METRO AREA, DJ SLUGO, DEREK PLASLAIKO. and ELIOT LIPP, just to name a few. Both gents bring technical prowess and bags of trickery to the stage, so you know this ain't gonna simply be two dudes beatmatching records. See what trickery ensues when these 2 vets come together on the 1's + 2's! == == FUTURE: EMPTY BOTTLE, MEIOTIC & APSERPS PRESENT JACKSON THIRD FRIDAYS @ SONOTHEQUE IN 2009! FULL DETAILS SOON!

Buzz asked that we not do that. Me and a few friends have copies, and the rest of y'all will just have to cope. Or book Buzz yourself, and tell him "Don't play one of those sets that cheeses off Robert Taylor." Re: (313) Santiago Salazar in SF 11/28
I agree, Suburban Knight threw down when I saw him in Chicago. And it was not the kind of set Robert Taylor complained about at all, it was nice bumping house and techno but not too pitched up. This thread reminds me I should visit Jeff Mills store Friday, it's around the corner from my house. The tshirts are kinda out of my price range though. ~David On Wed, Nov 26, 2008 at 9:16 AM, kent williams <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > My sympathies. Jeff Mills is responsable for the all time most amazing set ive ever seen. I saw him live in detroit at a club located by comerica park. He played all night mixing Taana Gardner to moodymann to Rob Hood to james Brown and it was all seamless and brilliant. My friend has an 1 1/2 hr of the 4 hours he played on a cassette he recorded. ANd yes, people were jittin. Buzz is good and i really enjoy 3000. Maybe 3000 just had an off-night. Happens to the best of us.
