RE: (313) Detroit Backpack Festival

2012-08-04 Thread John Sokolowski

So not much of a review - the same storm that roared through Chicago and
cancelled Lollapalooza also went through Detroit and caused schedule problems
with the backpack festival. Galaxy 2 Galaxy did not play. Only caught a bit of
Hotwax Hale and Wayne Williams. The space is great and the sound is amazing.
Tomorrow will be better.

Oh, DUH!! The party on Belle Isle!!!

Yeah, I did know about that.

That being said, the lineup for this event is solid. We are all volunteering
out time and efforts for a great cause. Hopefully I'll see some of you there.

If you would like to volunteer some time that weekend, let me know. I working
on recruiting around 100 volunteers for the event.

All this talk... very jealous. I couldn't quite time a business trip well
enough. As it happens I'll back on the east coast a week later. Such a shame.
Hopefully next year! Looking forward to the recordings in all formats.

That pretty much sums it up. Glad to hear that S.I.D. will be open

around the corner from Threads in hamtramack, if you need to further

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm excited to be going to the D
once again over memorial day weekend. Granted I'm only 4.5 hours away,
but each festival excursion is a further reminder of all the great
things that Detroit has to offer any music fan.

The best place by far is Detroit Threads in my opinion. They get new and
used stuff in all of the time. Plus artists like Theo, Kyle Hall, etc hand
deliver their new releases as soon as they get them. Melodies and Memories,
sadly, doesn't get much new stuff in at all. They have had the same records
on the wall in the dance room for the last 2-3 years.

It looks like I'll be going to DEMF this year YAH

So now the question as always is: WHERE TO BUY MUSIC??

Now that Record Time's gone, where can I go shopping other than Detroit
Threads and Melodies and Memories?

If pickins are too slim, I'm always willing to trek out to Flat Black
and Circular... :)
