Re: (313) help with two track IDs?
The second track is Spiller - Jumbo and is on Beatport. It's actually saying "Jumbo" not "Jump Rope." :p I have misheard many old house track vocals in my searches, too. Nice track. That first one sounds great, as well. Let me know what track it is, if you find out. It's been sampled by lots of people. That version sounds to me like DBX's "And There Ain't", which is Kenny Dope, not Dan Bell. http://www.discogs.com/artist/DBX+(2). I know you say it comes back at 45 minutes, but the only thing before "And There Ain't" is "Think Twice". It's "And There Ain't" (or something very similar anyway) which comes back in - there isn't any other Funkadelic sample. Hope that helps. Matthew has a new album in the pipeline. Similar to his previous offerings Matthew does not intend to steer away from his dominating, God-like use of the sampler, and the rule to which his music is created; ‘the use of sounds that already exist is not allowed’. A rule, which has lead to his music being created through the sounds of food preparation and household appliances, for example, instead of the monotonous, processed, synthetic beats of standard drum machines. Thus manifesting itself into an entirely original amalgamation of music and sounds. His latest release, the critically acclaimed, ‘Plat du Jour’ was created over a period of 18 months, and consisted of 30,000 chickens, 3,255 people biting on an apple, and a cheiftan mk 10 battle tank – to list just a few of the ingredients making up this epic release. So what has Matthew in store for us now….? To be honest I don’t think anyone will know until his new record is released, but for one of the up and coming tracks on this yet, untitled album, he requires your assistance. Yes. You! At the !K7 office we have installed a separate phone line, the ‘Herbert Hotline’, if you will. Unfortunately there’s no-one at the other end to pick it up, just an answering machine. Remember you’re dealing with a man who has created music from the recording of coffee cups and sewer systems, so the more original the better. These sounds will be collected on the answering machine and past on to the grand, musical conductor himself, who will fuse the sounds together to create a grand musical cacophony that only he knows will sound like. To add extra intrigue to this task you must under no circumstances state, or give any indication as to what the sound is. Hi All I was hoping someone might be able to suggest the best (i.e. cheapest) way to get from Detroit to Montreal and back. I've never been to the States so have no idea whether it's cheaper to go via plane, bus or even train? It would be very helpful to know about websites where I could book this kind of stuff from the UK. Any comments gratefully received. Offlist is probably best, though maybe there are some other folks needing to get from Fuse-In to Mutek and back? Thanks a lot! Dan.

Re: (313) help - paul mac
that dan curtin is one of my very favorite curtin records. it's so so good. even at the time it came out the tracks were pretty old, think it's pretty early stuff from him. the mg's are great too! rotating retrospective has a couple really funky-quirky different takes on room 120-2 from quadrilocular, and the other one has the irresistable pico track. i have that paul mac too, i wasnt very impressed with it at the time but pulled it out and yeah it's pretty good. kinda in the same area as dan and morgan's stuff but with a little less personality and more smoothness. there was also that jaime reade (LHAS) album on fragmented, 4xLP! i only got into about half the tracks on it, but still, that meant like..10 tracks or something...some great ones on there! like that very last track that sampled a loop from the strikers' "body music" (i think??), ran it thru a nice filter and threw some beautiful strings and piano chords over...o...gonna toss it on now actually.. Great record. Fragmented had some corkers... the Dan Curtin 'life in the savage garden' has some BRILLIANT tracks, one with absolutely jaw-dropping 808 programming and beautiful synth melodies, lot of momentum, an unforgettable track. I'll have to dig that one out. Morgan G had a couple on EPs on there too. peace -- Matt MacQueen http://SonicSunset.com

Yes, Paul Mac is definitely a top producer in my mind. In addition to what you mentioned check out his album Push Came to Shove. It has a nice variety. Re: (313) help - paul mac

hiya I'm trying to track down a copy of 'Underwater' by Point G aka DJ Gregory. It was on the Sonar mix of Laurent Garnier's Excess Luggage release, and I've heard him play it on a Radio 1 mix too. but that's all I really know of it. I couldn't find much info on discogs. Does anyone know if it's been released, if so, what label etc? thanks in advance. Chris Message sent using Dodo Internet Webmail Server

no, not really. there's a bit added to the drum pattern, the bass is boosted a bit and it's got a nice rough-hewn quality to it. fun to mix with the Anthony Rother cover of same. - bot - Original Message - From: "Thomas D. Hi Lauren - I'm surprised you haven't had more of a response to this! I guess 313 is happier bitching over geographical issues than talking about music these days :/ Anyway, some of my personal techno faves of the past few months, off the top of my head, have been: Kenny Larkin's 'The Narcissist and Lucien N Luciano's 'Blind Behaviour', both on Peacefrog; all of Mathew Jonson's stuff on ItIsWhatItIs and Minus; the 3 Chairs LP; Jeff Mills' 'From The 21st' 12"s on Axis; the three 12"s on Soloaction out of Berlin, the Adam Johnson album on Merck... The thing is I know there are two volumes, so before I > put my hand in my pocket can someone advise me which is the best one .. 1 > or 2 ? I really liked 1(blue cover) more then 2(brown cover). i think there is a 3 now also? as for #1: the dexter track - i program(dexter has 2 tracks on lp, both good) is my favorite on the lp. it is kinda IDMish with wounderful vocoded vocals. my second fav track on that is the track before "i program". i forget who it is but it has a very heavy dark particle beat type electro, very hot! there is also a track with the hook from fix-flash or at least it resembles it. if you liked this I would also suggest the frustrated funk - we bring mad drama (fr-001) through clone. compilation w/ cosmic force (fav track on lp), blue villa people, figuras frustrated, and pametex. cosmic spores tarck the electronic vision is my favorite, it has banging beats, dope synths, the track is not to dark but not light either, slightly IDMish(but that may just be the drum sounds) and has a great progression. the album is dedicated to mr. stinson i would also suggest the new bunker 3027 luke eargoggle - audio warriors the first track swedish code goes so well with vintages futures - frequency snowstorm (ur-27). the eargoggle lp and it is a 2x12 has lots of different sounds on it and I think it is one of the best bunker has put out (this label keeps getting better) it's up there with rude 66's de machine des duivels (another one of my favs on bunker). the music varies from very detroit sounding electro sounds on the dark side to more modern synthie electro punk. think aux 88 and adult. in a blender making an electro smoothie. > > Keeping things on an electro tip .. > > There are two other electro comps that were recommended a while back, > 'Mixed Up In The Hague' by I.F & 'Little Computer People' by Anthony > Rother. Anyone know of a retailer that carries a good back > catalogue of Electro CDs??? > little computer people is very cool all that psi49net stuff is pretty hot. i would also add rother's hacker lp is really good the Simulationszeitalter is probally my favorite by him next to sex machines. groovetech and nuloop both have samples. nuloop.com has samples from all the tracks. all these records have the signature rother sound; killer electro! as for mixes I like www.electroradio.com in the past but just checked it out and it seems to not be functioning right. still there. capsite is also great. locally, www.brownnoteproductions.com has so great mixes trent abbe, t.linder, keith cha, tres lucitte, natrual absentee, anomaly, and me all have electro of some kind of mix up there. one of my favorites is up there. by trent named primary, it starts off with the 69 pieces track which is followed by so many good track that i do not know the names of. trents vectors mix is also very good again one of my fav's all the tracks are hot, the mix he does with the don't f*#k my 808 is way cool. tom's real mean wear parachute pants it is an old school mix i really enjoyed it. just happen to not own it on cd like the other two. and last but not least my mix, it is a clone meets detroit meets ghettotech meets kraftwerk. this is the first mix i have ever let anybody other then friends listen to so don't judge me to hard.
RE: (313) Help Finding Electro Mixes
for mixed up in the hague i would recommend going directly to clone, as i believe they distributed it. a favorite. there is also lots of more hip-hop/old school electro mixes on www.electroempire.com. you may be able to pose this question to www.electroalliance.net, an electro devoted message board. as far as mixed up in the hague 2, i heard that it would not be released on cd. but if you like mind streaming media, ferenc now has an Internet radio station at www.cybernetic-broadcasting.net. all the italo disco and electro you could possibly want. and i would also like to offer an electro mix of my own: http://www.capsite.net/mixes/jand01.ram cheers Jan D -- > > Date: Tue, 15 Apr 2003 15:59:29 +0100 > To: 313@hyperreal.org > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Help Finding Electro Mixes > Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > ** > Entertainment UK Limited > Registered Office: 243 Blyth Road, Hayes, Middlesex UB3 1DN. > Registered in England Numbered 409775 > > This e-mail is only intended for the person(s) to whom it is addressed and may contain confidential information. Hi Alex, if you're in the UK - you wanna speak to MCPS, if you're in the States the Harry Fox Agency might help (but probably not) publishing deals for small pressed electronic music producers are rare - unless you set up your own publishing co. - which will pay off after some time - but will involve some work good luck rc on 26/7/02 2:37 AM, [EMAIL PROTECTED] at [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > Memo from Alex Bond of PricewaterhouseCoopers > > Start of message text > > Hello. > > Can anybody point me in the direction of some online information regarding > music publishing, especially with regards to doing techno and other stuff > similar to that that isn't going to sell loads of copies? > > Anything will be of use, I've checked the ascap site already. > > Thanks, > > Alex. > > - End of message text > > This e-mail is intended only for the person to whom it is > addressed. I'm not sure how you mean publishing, but if you are looking for info on starting a label, P&D, etc, then Chris Sattinger's (AKA Timeblind) Dance Music Business Resource is your first stop. http://crucial-systems.com/dmbr/ This is the same one that used to be housed at hyperreal, but updated. There's also a very nice bootleg that was available from Ibadan that layed the "The System" vocal over Kerri Chandler's "Atmosphere." The vocal and that track really work well together. There's even a version of the vocal in Spanish. Regarding insurance for turntables/records: >Are you living in a house, because your home owner's >insurance should cover it the way it would cover your >TV or stereo in case of fire/theft/etc. I don't know what US policies are, but here in the Netherlands turntables would probably be covered under standard policies, but a sizable record collection most definitely wouldn't. Insurance companies have a more or less standard profile for house/apartment insurance and a record collection worth several thousand $ does not exactly fit that profile :) If you don't explicitly insure that (or insure a lower amount than what it's worth), they'll claim that you're underinsured which reduces or possibly even voids the claims you can make. The same would hold for a high-end audio system or studio equipment. Otto - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
RE: [313] Help!
I actually have State Farm renter's insurance, and the price varies with the amount insured and the amount of deductable. I have almost $10,000 locked up in equipment, and tons of records - as well as appliances and furniture (not to mention a certain important Server!) - and my agent insured my apartment from everything (for a total amount of $13000) for something like $150 a year. This covers theft, water damage, fire damage and everything in between. And the deductable is $500. Renter's insurance should cover that, assuming you live in an apartment. Re: [313] Help!
Are you living in a house, because your home owner's insurance should cover it the way it would cover your TV or stereo in case of fire/theft/etc. If it's an apartment, you should be able to find an insurance company somewhere to set up a policy. If quarterbacks can get their arms insured for millions, someone should be able to cover a few turntables.
