Boomkat have the Streetsounds ones. The mega-mix format irritates me somewhat - I want to hear the intros and DJ with them! No doubt some old electro-fart will pipe up now and say that was part of the original charm... carl morris Plug Two t +442920190151 David Beattie wrote: Just a heads up for people, im just back from RAD where amongst many other things I picked up represses of Streetsounds Electro 1 & 2 as well as 1, 2 & 3 of compilations called Jackin' The House with loads of old Armando, Adonis, Pierre, Mr Fingers etc on them Cheers BT

(313) New Rekkids
some lovely vinyl arrived with the postie this morning, initial thoughts: Bastedos 001 + 002 Nice long edits of Sylvester 'Ring of Gold' and Yello's 'Bostich' (Bastedos 001), and Prince's 'America' and Tantra's 'Hills'. OK so the edit hype is dying down now (hmmm or is it?) but i like the way these are done. Remove all the noodly bits and get more of a groove on. Omar S - FHXE #1 Oasis We probs all know how this sounds now...nice and hypnotic house music (with a nice little loop on the other side). First in a series apparently. Rako Dragonbreath - Jumpin 2 Conclusions ep - Black Label Wicked wicked modern electrofunk. Best thing I've heard yet on BL. 6 cuts, the title track with a great vocal probs the pick of the bunch, Defeckt and Channel a close epic slow driving second. Blake Baxter - Poetry and Rhythm - Mix Two Abe Duque produced tracks, one a cover of What's Going On and the other a great house track (Forbidden Fruit) with the 'Blake 4 Love' bit halfway through, but not before he's described his perfect woman. Ace. Crown Prince of Sextronica? :) Abe Duque/ Blake baxter - What Happened? - Abe Duque 7 We've talked about this before, 3 tracks, two acid house (one of them the title track, hmm ok it's more dbx style than acid) and a more straightforward house track on the flip (Disco Nites). All with Blake's excellent vocals. Just been repressed so get em while u still can.

Mine arrived yesterday. It was more than a bit warped - completely taco'd. Didn't notice on the b side at all, then threw on the flip, and it was a perfect bowl almost - hovering at about 5 mm evenly as it rotates. Now where's that 2-ton record-squisher? Shame... Both LP's are wicked in my book. 'Trash' is my personal favorite. :) Used to play these on the radio all the time. KJ : Casablanca (very different for them - quite housey) yeah im really feeling this as well but the only copy in my shop was a b it warped so im gonna wait till other copies come in. stuff i got recently (mostly stuff thats been covered on here): moodymann - "sweet yesterday" - peacefrog - basically bought this for the instrumental as the original was already on the LP dj dez - mass destruction LP - hipnotech - really really sweet instrumental hiphop LP by andres. im really feeling it. ugly edits 5 - nice stuff on here, not as anthemic as 4, but ill be playing all the cuts out for sure. alicia "wit you"/max "like you" - white label bootleg of what sounds like some r+b tracks. really slow grooving house type biz. aztec mystic - "aguila" - ur - yeah this tune is just so sweet. it kills me. 3 chairs - "all over/3 chairs theme/no drum machine" - i feel like ive been looking for this forever. it seems like just recently it got pressed again in bigger numbers cause now its everywhere, as it deserves to be. cant wait to hear the album. cookie monster and the girls - "c is for cookie (larry levan mix)" - ninja tune - this certainly isnt for people without a sense of humour. larry levan mixed this disco track with cookie monster's vocals in 78 (the sleeve claims it was levan's first mix) and its just a funky ass disco track with cookie monster getting buck wild over it. weird. shawn rudiman/arne weinberg - chord control EP - technoir audio - yeah, this is just as hot as it sounds from the online samples. i will be caning the sh*t out of "kings of sleep" and "my testimony" especially. tom andythepooh.com
(313) New Rekkids
Just picked up another load. Based on the online samples, I thought I should pass these recommendations along before they're in-hand (things seem to be going really fast these days). Afronaught : Transcend Me / Outta Range (classic Broken Beat reissue) John Arnold : Anaconda / Rough (pure funk with a thick beat) Bola : Fyuti Bola : Soup (how could I sleep on these for so long)? Cosy Creatures : Freedom EP (Joshua-esque bassline-driven toon from Belgium on DJ Sneak's 'Oomph'. Also reminds me of Paper in it's heydey) DJs Collapse : Jaw Funk / Shinbone (Herbert + Mouse On Mars on Soundslike. Sounds like Ennio Morricone getting Herberted and Moused in the bassment. Weird)! Domu & Volcov : The Last Of The Great Apes EP (Nice Titonton mix) Titonton Duvante : Raunchy EP (More Titonton - very very nice) Force Of Nature : Dark Nebula (very tech-y broken remix from Moonstarr) Freedom Soundz Feat. Vanessa Freeman : Feelings EP (new from Alex Attias on Nepenta. Sick vocal. Flip also sounds great)! Global Soul : Look Into Yourself (the Seiji mix has been caned @ Co-op for ages, which has an unusually full-on vocal for him. Never heard the Alex Attias mix before, but it's wicked. An almost straight beat with a very broken vocal cut-up. Sounds nice)! Infinity Plus One : Rhythmic Unison / Looking Like U Sound (sick, limited acid cut-up thing) LFO : Sheath (YAY!) Madlib : Madlib Remixes (dope remix of Gangstarr, haven't heard the rest yet) The Neptunes : Present... Clones ('bout time I got this, right)? Nubian Mindz Feat. KJ : Casablanca (very different for them - quite housey) PC Synergy : Madrugada EP (same label 'Drenched' as the Infinity Plus One release above - house chugger, seems really varied) Pest : Chicken Spit (really nice instrumental hip hop thing on Ninja Tune, which apparently has a broken beat version as well. Very nice for the original, but took a chance on it in hopes the flip delivers too) Prassay : Krvsin (DJ Gregory one-sider, reissued on Wall of Sound. Big)! Spacek : Vintage Hi.Tech (the high praise this week seems to be completely deserved) Steppah Huntah : Walk This Step (includes Seiji remix, which is surprisinlgly noodly for him. The original has a really tasty morphing bassline. Definitely worth checking) 32 Project : The Root Of World (mo' Hiroshe Witanabe) Truby Trio : Universal Love (wicked Detroity house remix from Ame on the flip) Louie Vega : Nico's Song / Africa/Brasil (beautifully musical, but never pisses on itself. For his son) Various Artists : Radius EP 3 (one really nice Metro Area-esque track from the '80s on this) v/a - Headspace 2003 Sampler (all very nice. Well done boys)! Should be able to hear audio for all of these but the last one at http://www.piccadillyrecords.com Oh, also picked up the Scott Ferguson 'Gnosis EP' on Ferris Park, which is nothing ground breaking, but contains some nice slow groovers. Finally got my copy of C2C4 on Moxie as well. Never noticed that the synth bloops throughout seem to dip and dive in pitch (in the sample itself). Very weird. Apologies if this isn't all explicitly [313]. I'm getting really tired of hearing that the record industry is in a state of decline. All the shops I frequent, and the rate at which things sell out indicate anything but to me. I couldn't buy all the new releases I want if my salary was doubled.
