Did some of you notice than the bassline of the track "Full Clip" is almost similar than the bassline of the track "Airborne" (carl craig remix)...The first time I heard Carl Craig playing that track I tough it was a re-remix...or a lost edit like Carl craig can hide on old tapes...;-). Fabrice Lig

According to his myspace page, this guy Martin Buttrich (a name almost as good as mine) is production partners with Tiesto on his album. Any chance of a Tiesto release on Planet e? :p I do agree those clips make for a solid release. Also, any one want to cite some examples of this recent wave of boring polished melodic techno that people are saying is not gritty enough? Are you all still talking about Vince Watson or just general trends in production? Re: (313) new planet e
I definitely agree with this, I love melodic techno but feel that the vast majority of stuff over the past few years has become way too smooth and polished - just because it's melodic doesn't mean it can't be raw and gritty as well. I much prefer music to be a bit rougher and with a good bite that all ultra-perfectly produced and squeaky clean. Yeah I completely agree. I think as time has gone on it's got easier and easier to get that polished sound (cheaper equipment and better software). Which is not necessarily a good thing in my book. robin...

i feel that way about alot of melodic techno, not enough of it has teeth. of course there's also the melodic techno thats too dancefloor. its a hard combo to master, something thats good listening music and good dancefloor stuff as well tom I definitely agree with this, I love melodic techno but feel that the vast majority of stuff over the past few years has become way too smooth and polished - just because it's melodic doesn't mean it can't be raw and gritty as well. I'm generally not that persuaded by his stuff (a lot of it is almost-but-not-quite for me), although the Headspace 12" is wicked I think. It's very smooth but it's got more charater to it than a lot of the other stuff. I love two of the tracks on that one. RE: (313) NEW PLANET E RE-ISSUE
>where's this one available Francis? >Not sure I've heard it. Alex It isn't available alas - my point really. I can't really tell you a lot about this, maybe somebody else on the list knows the facts and will correct my ill informed and badly remembered (= I may be making it up) version of things which is: it looked like it was going to come out on R&S about 10 years ago, it was on a demo cassette of tracks from forthcoming R&S albums, also on there were Juan's "I Wanna Be There" from "Deepspace" which hadn't come out then and similar tasters for albums by Tournesol, Jacobs Optical Stairway, Ken Ishii, all of which dropped and some R&S classics. I think at the time there was something about a 69 album coming but whether that was the "Sound Of Music" CD compilation of Planet E stuff on R&S which people have mentioned in some recent posts or a whole lost 69 album (unlikely but an anxiety inducing thought) I don't know. Anyway it's a brilliant track, I've heard 2 versions the one on the cassette above and one C2 played when he did Radio 1's "Essential Mix" of that time. OH MY GOD, after an hour and a half, as he's building up to the end, he drops this long drawn out (20 minute? seemed like it) version, starting with background noises from the other version just building for ages before it finally kicked. Definite goosebump moment. Francis

Surely it would be good to have stuff on vinyl which hasn't been pressed before while repressing previously released stuff? Francis

I don't know but maybe it's a misunderstanding with the remix (10'') of François de Roubaix who is an old composer of movie soundtracks (like the samourai with alain delon) from the 60-70's. mat > > i heard through the grape vine that the vocals on Demented were sampled from > and old french movie. is that true? > > ryan > > > >From: "Mathieu Roussotte" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > >To: "313" <313@hyperreal.org> > >Subject: RE: (313) New Planet E 12" (& capsite) > >Date: Tue, 1 Jul 2003 16:45:31 +0200 > > > >IMO it's a good record, but as it has been said there's nothing new. > >It's like the new alaska by L.Garnier (back in the old days). > > > >Innerzone orchestra, a great thing done but > >I wish carl had find another way to create than mixing jazz with techno., > >with regards and respect to all jazz fans. > > > >mat -- Faites un voeu et puis Voila ! www.voila.fr

Nobody can really expect Carl to do only "bedroom listening stuff" because he did some absolute classic soulful deep listening music. Nobody can expect that Carl only does his future jazz records liek Innerzone or Detroit Experiment. And nobody can expect from Carl that he only does dancefloor stuff like Paerclip People or Tres demented. What I want to say is that he has very different facettes and we should be glad that he releases those different styles. And Carl Craig is not a musical machine, so he can make tracks that might seem not to be genious as usual Music is a question of taste. Arne

Re: (313) New Planet E 12" (& capsite)
hey guys Hmm sorry but i bought it on sight and after listening i thought it was a bit of a waste of money, It is basically a drum track and more made for the DJ's apparently, not really worth for listening at i liked this comment from a good friend who will remain nameless...: "They ripped a bassline of Robert Armani and beats alike Farley JM's "Funking with the drums again" plus on the other side Rolling Stone's "Sympathy for the devil" on 45 rpm... " he was dissing it, sounds good to me tho, i ordered it..:P unrelated, i recently found out capsite.net will soon be no more (or maybe it already is, its not coming up at the moment..). hats off to a fantastic online zine, my favorite since the old days of forcefield, but it even exceeded that, with the video reports, graffiti and art spotlights, online mixes from lots great dj's, loadsa interviews... etc etc. it just had all the right feeling about it too, it's own very nice style that no other online zine came close to.
