I saw Bjork earlier on in the year and her band were using the
Jazzmutant, the Reactable and the Tenori-On. The Jazzmutant was used in
just about every song except bar one where it was just a piano (or was
it a harpsicord?).

The Reactable was used in probably half the songs. Like theREALmxyzptlk
said, the palette seemed a bit limited. It looked pretty cool and the
crowd seemed to react pretty well to it.

And the Tenori-On got used once, perhaps twice. It looked cute but that
seemed to be about it.

The nice thing about the Bjork show was that there were quite a few
projectors giving almost as much airtime to the synths as they were to
Bjork herself. It was a very gear-nerd friendly show.

skipping the record now we'll get some drunk fool knocking the blocks

Would be very interesting if the blocks were each custom and could be
write-only to a certain set of sounds or a particular instrument.
Would make quite a fun little scene with bringing the right set of

Also, infinitely better than staring at the back of someone's laptop

I'd like to hear how flexible that sound palette is; what I've heard is

He he... I think Tenori-on would be the best choice for Kraftwerk too.

But i think Rectable is a fantastic interface. You make music using
blocks, it kinda transposes de limits of the physical and the
abstract when it comes to synth sounds.

Nothing wrong with that word. It's just that I've gone through about 700
unread 313-mails, and I would like to comment on _pointless_ mailing to
this list. These matters have been discussed in the list several times
before (and I think this mail comes in a bit late), but I think it's
appropriate to remind people occasionally, especially when new people are
joining the list.

It seems that somedays people just have too much time on their
hands, and those people enjoy stirring things up a bit and then watching
other people, as on this list, to waste their time in pointless
conversations and arguments like "my music is better than yours".

These people are called trolls. They appear with different names, email
addresses etc. and when kicked off the list they may reappear after a
while under a new address.

They are very subtle in their actions, they have at least a partial
knowledge of 313-related music (and _unrelated_ as well) and with that
they attack the thing we love.

Common trolling mail could be something like "DJ/producer X's latest work
sucks because X has HIV and it has sprouted into AIDS. I know this to be
true because X didn't appear to play in the event Y, and my cousin works
in a hospital where X gets the treatment for the disease, and one day he
came to me and said 'look where that music, raves and drugs gets you
into!' and explained the whole situation."

The best solution for trolls is to ignore them. They live with the
attention they and their mails get. It's the same thing as it is with
spamming: when you get a spam with lines reading something like "to be
removed from this list send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]" To mail to
that address is the _last_ thing you want to do because once they recieve
a reply from you the spammers will know that there's an active email
account, "let's keep on spamming there!!"

So, before making a possibly angry, hasty reply, sit back, take a deep
breath, read the recieved mail once again and then decide whether to
respond at all.

My point was _not_ to name Jayson B. as a troll, but I'm simply sick and
tired of pointless discussion. I know, I know, procmail or any other good
mail sorting program is a decent solution, but I don't like the idea of
modifying it's settings every other day.

Now, please read the lines of the mail I replied to, and perhaps
couple more of other "the X is Y'r than Z" -mails that have been
clogging my 313-folder. Do I make any sense?

I'm not trying to offend anyone, but if you feel like I have, please,
let's continue the discussion privately.
