Don't despair, Alex. He returns to our shores on 2nd August for a gig at Plastic People, possibly London's finest club (definitely the finest system). Last time he played there, he played exactly the kind of set he seems to be playing at Deep Space NYC. You're right though, his recent Tribal and Lost sets were hardly what you would call eclectic. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, May 02, 2003 2:40 PM To: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: RE: (313) Francois K's Playlist >oh man. i just checked the next playlist. this is depressing and >inspiring simultaneously. RE: (313) Francois K's Playlist
D-e-e-p listening... It's a nod to the old days Would love to experience something like that... Its all just simply fantastic music, irrespective of the genre...I wonder how he mixes the tracks ? I mean Maxwell into The Congas into Pete Shelly (surely not from The Buzzcocks ??? - don't know the song but im guessing its punky) how is that possible ??? *scratches head* I think a crowd would may support it, given time and an open mind. But I cant think of many dj's that would would be brave enough to even attempt such a set on a regular basic in a club. Might work in smaller inimate bars tho. -Original Message- From: Rob Theakston [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 02 May 2003 15:32 To: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: RE: (313) Francois K's Playlist oh man. i just checked the next playlist. this is depressing and inspiring simultaneously. http://www.deepspacenyc.com/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=2 56 Race Babbling Stevie Wonder Motown dang. that's my jam. it's a shame a crowd in Detroit wouldn't support a night like this. unbelieveable diversity. -Original Message- From: Grammenos, Peter [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, May 02, 2003 10:26 AM To: 'Eric Scuccimarra'; '313@hyperreal.org' Subject: RE: (313) Francois K's Playlist Just a week before this I was going on and on about how I want to hear more diversity... RE: (313) Francois K's Playlist
Just a week before this I was going on and on about how I want to hear more diversity... NYC is a wonderful place ;) Here is the flyer, he's playing on monday w/ jeannie hopper (does a cool jazz-house radio show on 99.5FM on sat's in nyc) .. back from Japan. http://www.deepspacenyc.com/ The club has a sweet system too, the best out of all the little clubs in nyc (filter 14, baktun, ...). Just dont' go there on a fri-sat, it's ibiza night, LOL! -Pete -Original Message- From: Eric Scuccimarra [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, May 02, 2003 10:20 AM To: Grammenos, Peter; '313@hyperreal.org' Subject: Re: (313) Francois K's Playlist Wish I'd made it to this one... RE: (313) Francois K's Playlist
now THAT'S what i'm talking about. THAT's a setlist. the closest thing in Detroit we have to that, in terms of eclecticism is Todd Osborn. -Original Message- From: Grammenos, Peter [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, May 02, 2003 10:10 AM To: '313@hyperreal.org' Subject: (313) Francois K's Playlist from the opening night of Cieleo ...look at that diversity, what a great night ;) http://www.deepspacenyc.com/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=1 some 313 goodies : 16 See This Way Jeff Mills Axis 23 Congo Man The Congos Honest John's Carl Craig Edit 49 On & On Aril Brikha Transmat and to end the night off : 59 It's All Gone Pearshaped Digital Justice Transmat -Pete --- Peter Grammenos Goldman Sachs & Co.
