Ten seconds please: dismissed 'Revenge of The Wolf' for months, but having
dug out it again and *used* it, I have to say, it is very, very deep, wierd
and quite sick - and a great tool ... as long as you don't take a chance
with the second breakdown.

well - the last number "1876" -

1876 -- America celebrates its Centennial: 100 years as a Republic, 100
years in pursuit of the promise of the Declaration of Independence that all
men are created equal

But more interesting is that on June 25th 1876 - General George Armstrong
Custer was justifiably killed by the Nations of Cheyenne and Dakota after
years and years of oppression and murder.

That would be the more likely source for that number in the url 6251876 -
as in June 6th 1876.
interesting to see the two different markers of the same time period
side-by-side - one celebrating equality - the other a reaction to not being
treated equally

Red Planet = America

lbh is Little Big Horn - where Custer got what was coming to him.

Yup, it is a date that refers to a battle where the US Cavalry tried to
slaughter a sh*tload of Sioux and Cheyenne Indians but it turned for all the
good of the Sioux and Cheyenne Indians and the cavalry got defeated by them.
I think that this was one of the big big victories against the US Cavalry

I agree with you on the new Dark Energy, Aurora is just amazing. I am not

The new Vintage Future was a bit dissapointing for me, i really loved his

Re: (313) Red Planet?

2002-10-18 Thread tom churchill
To aviod any confusion - Club 69 is in Glasgow, but the Red Planet night is
actually happening at the Art School tonight. It's promoted by Traxx, and
the other DJ will be Martin from Rubadub...

Also tonight Metro Area are playing live at the CCA just over the road,
along with myself, Paul Cawley (Fenetik) and Jim Hutchison (Fake). I'm
hoping to get across to check out Namowan at some point too...

Cheers,

Tom

There was a Red Planet compilation CD released a couple of years ago. I'm
not 100% clear how mail order is working through the new Submerge website if
you aren't in Detroit, but if that's an option it's your best place to look,

Unless you plan to stock up on all the 12"s (which I would advise, but it's
the priciest option), I'd strongly recommend buying the CD! If you actually
haven't heard any of the tracks you will be breathless upon first listen.
And if you're not impressed I'll eat my hat!

yeah, i agree. they are quite different compared to any other material
out there. of course there are tracks on them that just aren't so good,
but hey, nobody's perfect.

but my advice is, if you have the money, and you can get them, get them

the cd is great, but it should had have all released tracks on it! ;)

None of them are stinkers in the least, but if I was forced on pain of death

My favourite Red Planet release is 4 - the track "Visual Contact", when I
first heard it in a record shop just after it came out, had a virtually
life-changing effect on me! Red Planet 2 features Star Dancer, so you've
just got to get that one. The first EP has a rougher sort of sound, but is
inspirational anyway ("Meet the Red Planet" is the awe-inspiring opening
salvo of the Red Planet assault).

#3, for Sex in Zero Gravity especially... #6 is the most overtly funky of
them all... "Particle Shower" on 8 is a stunning piece of spacey techno...
#5, though it's the one I'd give up if I *had* to, features "Skypainter",

pretty much got to get the lot!

No.6 is my fave. Is it true that it's Lawrence Burden behind it?

Re: [313] Red Planet PRODUCER ID???

2001-02-09 Thread Jonny McIntosh
Marvin Gaye does handclaps, Brian Jones plays the cello and Albert Ayler the
triangle. Elvis was sat at the mixing desk throughout, applying reverb to
the cosmic commands of Otis Redding. So rumour has it. And Drexciya, who are
really the Proclaimers in drag, commissioned the piece for a birthday party.
Cheers.

Auchtermuchty is the new Detroit.

well the red planet compilation cd says "The Martian AKA Will Thomas". but
there's this rumor that Will Thomas would be Mike Banks. who knows. i
don't care.
