2014-12-12 Thread Jaime Solorza via Af
I did a Dragonwave 10 plus mile link last year that aligned pretty fast
because I did my homework and checked my azimuth settings on ground and
tower...I put some markers below tower and few thousand feet out. I used
my compass and Air Sice on Android.Set the 8 ft dish and tigthen it up
a bit...fired up radio ..linked up at -42...target was -41..moved it just a
tad ..got -39 and left it there. My son was at other side and didnt have
to make any adjustmentsit happens once in a blue moon.

My wife and I like walking around downtown areas at night when we vacation
and here as well. Never had any issues other than a dog attacked us. Size
10 1/2 steel toe hoot sent him running. I always carry a knife and my
walking stick. Not much against a gun but it gives the wife some
comfort.Take a self defense cane crash course...you can defend yourself
and look dapper at same time.

record all the time and just scroll to event time of interest. Get large
HD and clean out what is not needed after two weeks. Not sure why you
need it every 15 secs.

The client (Water Company) got to Verizon SIM cards from Verizon so in
essence its just like Smart phone on their network. I have Internet
(that's how we are conversing) via the modem but the IP is dynamic from
Verizon's pool. Spoke with GE MDS tech and he recommends static IPs be
assigned to each SIM card so we can create a M2M link for them.
It takes about 5 to 10 minutes for connection to migrate from Evdo to LTE
when I reboot system but once acquired it is staying at -56dBM. Several
US towers within 1/2 to 1 mile away and Mexican towers about 1 1/2 miles
away so I think that's why it takes so long to acquire LTE.

[AFMUG] Your friends at Vivint

2014-12-01 Thread Jaime Solorza via Af
>From a fellow WISP in town...
"By the way, these guys are super slimy... they have gone to my customer's
and told them that they need to check the equipment and then they climbed
on the roof even after my customer told them, "I don't use Vivint". The
neighbor saw them and was watching their every move, so they finally
retreated off the roof "

A clients' house!!! lucky they didn't get shot or police called...

Re: [AFMUG] SAF Hybrid interface question

2014-12-01 Thread Jaime Solorza via Af
Ah the big bird ate my (xxx) ploy! Back in the mid 90's we some Cushcraft
Yagi antenna pigtails get chewed by birds and water get inside them...those
antennas shipped with Solectek AirLAN bridges.ended up switching many
to TY-900's.
Worse is when they build nests or pigeons dump on them and towers...yukk
