Worked fine with "1.1.4 (German) WIN XP: [645m52 (Build 8824)]" So it seems that problem started with OOo 2 I can live with the "hop to the left", but that I can't reach text left from cell border is really annoying. You will always see this problem with editing for text aligned to the right, text that exceeds left cell border can not be reached using mouse pointer. I believe that that behaviour is the same for all OS, but currently it's only reproduced with WIN XP. Modified Version to first one for what problem is proved. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=80636 --- Additional comments from aza...@openoffice.org Thu Mar 11 06:29:22 + 2010 --- Despite being an old bug/feature request/what have you, this is still an issue. I used to have no problem, because OOo wouldn't use my GTK+ theme by default. I'd have to use something like the OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP env variable if I wanted my GTK theme used. With 3.2.0, this is no longer the case. There are problem some hacks I could do to make OOo and only OOo not use my GTK+ theme, but it would be better for the real problem to be solved. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. The multi-touch zoom is still fast, but it's not bat-out-of-hell fast anymore (the "exponential acceleration" noted by someone seems gone). Still IMHO much too easily triggered, and still too fast once it is - but at least for me it's now in the "barely controllable if I'm careful" range. Right now, ODF doesn't have the concept of chart types. The chart:series element, which stores individual data series, occurs immediately below the chart:plot-area element. But for the mixed-type charts to be stored correctly we need to store the chart types themselves. Ideally the element for the chart types, say, chart:chart-type, needs to be below the chart:plot-area but the parent of the chart:series elements. So, instead of storing ... ... as we currently do, we need to store it as ... ... Using this structure is also very similar to how the chart model is structured internally, so it only makes sense to do it this way. This only issue with this is obviously the ODF backward compatibility & potential delay in getting (pre-)approval from the TC. But to me, this is the best way to approach this. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Each time I tried, a fairly large portion (5 to 29 megabytes) of the 149 megabyte file would arrive within the first half second, and then the download speed would slow dramatically (to 1 to 5 kilobytes per second) until the estimated completion time for the download would show from 5 hours to several days. Eventually my Toshiba Satellite Windows Vista system would fall asleep, and, when reawakened, the download had failed. I compared the downloaded files byte for byte and found them all to be identical except for their varying lengths. First, thanks very much for the tip. That's exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for. Second, I'm on Ubuntu; I downloaded the source code for the current stable version of Writer in the standard repos (3.1), and the code you suggested wasn't in postit.cxx. I'm assuming your code might be for Windows. However, I found five places in the postit.cxx I downloaded that contained SvxFontHeightItem(200,100,EE_CHAR_FONTHEIGHT): * SfxItemSet item(aShell->GetPool()); * void SwMarginWin::ResetAttributes() * void SwPostIt::SetPostItText() * View()->GetEditView().RemoveAttribsKeepLanguages(true); <<--- this last one is commented out in the file --->> * Engine()->Clear(); I'm also assuming that postit.cxx controls note appearance, so any/all of these sections are telling OpenOffice how to render the note font. Unfortunately, I'm completely new to tinkering inside OpenOffice source code, although I'm not afraid to dive in. I spent a sleepless but interesting night trying to find out how, but gave up after a few hours. (As my previous post may indicate, I teach writing, and I'm just not versed in this stuff.) Short of removing the standard 3.1 version and compiling it all again from source, I'm not positive how I could simply edit this one file and then recompile what I already have installed. I'm not asking for any step-by-step instructions from anyone, but if there are any guides or quick references on how to just edit that one source file and then recompile what I already have installed, I'd be grateful (I've already been to the developer's guide)... This would be much easier if there was simply a config file someplace that controlled the note appearance, like in /home/user/.openoffice. Oh -- and I'm assuming since SwMarginWin::DefaultItem() wasn't in postit.cxx, the one I should be focusing on is SwPostIt::SetPostItText()? - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. However, when I click on "OpenOffice.org 3.1", or access the Folder in "My Documents" to retrieve the file, I am continuously getting the following error "the system cannot find the file specified." Yet all the files including this one I am trying to retrieve are listed. I have clicked on several of the other files and I am getting the same error message. The actual code that failed was bound to a checkbox control in a sub-form (Item Status Changed event). This is it... Sub onClickUpdateMeal(Ob as Object) Dim bStat as Boolean, MenuID as double, sSQL as string bStat = (Ob.Selected=1) 'Xray Ob MenuID =Ob.source.model.parent.GetByName("ID").GetCurrentValue ... This gets the value from the selected row in the subform grid. I have used similar code as a quick reference to the form in macros bound to buttons but I must be wrong in assuming they suffer the same problem. I have reverted to 3.1.1 now so can't test further for the time being. If I uncommented the Xray, "Ob" had no name and gave the same error when Xraying the parent property. Looks as if the error is limited to controls within a grid control. Sorry if I raised a red herring. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=110037 Issue #|110037 Summary|Calc: editing centered cells -> text misplaced Component|Spreadsheet Version|OOo 3.2 Platform|Unknown URL| OS/Version|All Status|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard| Keywords| Resolution| Issue type|DEFECT Priority|P3 Subcomponent|editing Assigned to|spreadsheet Reported by|hardy314 --- Additional comments from hardy...@openoffice.org Wed Mar 10 20:35:18 + 2010 --- This happened with Calc in OO3.2 on WinXP. I will attach a small sample document for quicker reproduction of the behavior. What you need is * a new calc document * increase the width of the first column to something like double the default * enter some text into a cell in the second column * change the text property of this text to 'centered' alignment * now double-click into the text of this cell and add some more text into it. -> Beginning with a certain amount of text, the displayed text will hop to the left side. :( The problem with this is, that this hopping of the text makes it impossible to mark some of the text with the mouse. Once you try to click it you will hit the neighbor cell and finalize the editing. A nicer behavior would be to * keep the text centered during editing, so that there is no difference between the layout during editing (compared to the layout after editing) * stay in editing mode if someone clicks into the edited text (directly in the cell), even if this text is currently displayed on top of a neighboring cell. Surely there is a workaround: you can just limit yourself to keyboard commands while editing the text. But this seems unsatisfactory to me. Also, I am used to the nicer behavior (as suggested above) from MS Excel (97). So the user unfriendly behavior of Calc also bluntly contrasts to this expected behavior. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Understandably, this is to mimic the behavior of previous versions. However, I regard this behavior to be really dangerous, and encourage the default to be changed to "Never": * Unexpected slips of the scroll wheel will modify numeric data. This can be disastrous for too many reasons to list in a paragraph. * A scroll wheel is a poor input device for numbers: - Can only reasonably modify small integers; cannot input/change fractions or very small (1e-5) or large (1e20) numbers. - Increment/Decrement by 1 is arbitrary (e.g.: 329.32-> 330.32 1e-5 -> 1 1.00E+020 -> 1.00E+020 ) * This behavior is different than Microsoft Access, which <= version 2003 navigates form record forwards/backwards and >= version 2007 does nothing (I think) I can understand why Max/MSP and Pure Data would have a mouse scroll wheel behavior on a numeric control, since it is often used for artistic expression. However, I cannot think of a single good reason why a database should have this control behavior. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=110032 Issue #|110032 Summary|Term Paper Component|Word processor Version|1.0.0 Platform|PC URL| OS/Version|Windows XP Status|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard| Keywords| Resolution| Issue type|DEFECT Priority|P3 Subcomponent|viewing Assigned to|writerneedsconfirm Reported by|sherrienl --- Additional comments from sherri...@openoffice.org Wed Mar 10 18:02:15 + 2010 --- Gray Rape Laura Sessions Stepp, Author of the article, “New Kind of Rape”, visits the accounts of 3 women, Laura, Alicia, and Shari, who are all victims of sexual assault. These 3 women were all under the influence of alcohol, but claim that they were not so intoxicated that they felt the appropriate consent was given for sexual behaviors to take place. According to the U.S Department of Justice, 1 in 5 college women will be raped in their college career, 9 out of 10 women know their attacker and will admit that the were raped (Fisher, et al, 2000, pg. 17). Alicia states that she was unsure about her experience. She felt like she wasn’t aggressive enough in demanding that she wanted no sexual act and hesitates to call what happened to her rape. Shari claims that in her case of sexual assault, she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. She did all she could to say NO and struggled to get away and did, but considers the question, “what could I have done to avoid a sexual assault?” While Shari attempted to fight off her attacker, Laura went into a sort of trance and froze in place. After Laura was assaulted she second guessed her actions. She wondered why she didn’t scream. Why didn’t she fight? All 3 women fall into what many experts call “gray rape” (Stepp, L, S. n.d). Gray rape is a point between consent and denial where the victim is unsure weather they initiated sexual advances or not (Stepp, L, S. n.d.). Victims of rape often feel that if they had done something differently from their clothes to their actions prior to the assault, then the assault would not have taken place (Stepp, L, S. n.d). [l10n-issues] [Issue 106992] Date format error (Englis h - Canada)
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=106992 --- Additional comments from reha...@openoffice.org Wed Mar 10 17:53:10 + 2010 --- I've tested both OOo-dev 3.3.0 m73 and 3.3.0 m74 Build 9487 on Win 7 Pro. One of which, as best as I can tell, should have included the fix for this issue. Both versions show still display the problem which was present in 3.2.0. I was not able to download the language packs for English UK for OOo-dev as they don't seem to be available yet. I installed OOo 3.3.0 m74 in parallel with OOo 3.2.0. Launching a new calc, under Languages I had a GUI setting of English USA and all three of Locale Setting, Currency and Default Language for Documents Western were set to English Canada. Typing an ISO 8601 compliant date ex. 2010-9-8 into a new document results in a completely ambiguous "08/09/10" being displayed in the cell and an ambiguous "08/09/2010" being display in the entry field. Manually changing date format to ISO 8601 fixes cell display to 2010-09-08 but not the entry field which remains "08/09/2010". As before changing the locale language to French Canada results in the correct ISO 8601 date format being displayed in both the cell and the entry field, but causes other issues. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. For example: I have a strings from CZ1 to CZ34. CZx for me is short version of the polish word część (czesc = piece), but it can be also cz as czwartek (thursday). When i open a document all the cells with strings from CZ1 to CZ31 are replaced with date CZ1 to 01.03.2020, CZ2 to 02.03.2020 and so on... It is also replaced when there is a space between letters and number (CZ[space]1). It cannot be switched off. [dba-issues] [Issue 102623] Character set conversion doesn't work correctly for field and table nam es using ODBC
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=102623 --- Additional comments from lu...@openoffice.org Wed Mar 10 17:18:35 + 2010 --- I had a further look into this. Part of the problem is the windows ODBC manager. All drivers tested support wide character ODBC function calls (SQLExecuteW, etc) and the single byte character ones (SQLExecute, etc). The windows driver manager sits between OOO and the driver. OOO uses the single byte version of the ODBC function calls and the windows driver manager translates the single byte function calls to wide character ones. It translates also the parameters from system to utf16 in doing so (é in UTF8 is two bytes, translating with system to utf16 gives two wide characters). The drivers continue with the utf16 values and will use wrong field names. This explains the first 2 errors reported in the original issue. I have to conclude that this is not an OOO issue. The test case in my earlier comment today does however still show a problem with a double translation in OOO. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
