When copying from an external program (e.g. Firefox) and pasting into ooo -
sometimes it works just fine (usually when pasting into a text doc) and
sometimes it doesn't (usually when pasting into a spread sheet). Some days it
works fine, some days it doesn't (e.g. today 21 Aug 2010 at about 12:00 BST).
It's been happening on and off since version 2, but it did seem to go away with
the updates just prior to version 3.
These are the symptoms.
I Copy text in Firefox
I Paste in ooo, but instead of pasting what I just copied, ooo pastes the most
recent thing which I previously copied within ooo.
I then go to another program (e.g. PSPad) and Paste and I get the thing I just
copied in Firefox.
I then copy that and try pasting it into ooo, but ooo still pastes the most
recent thing which I copied in ooo.

If I then close all ooo docs, terminate ooo, restart it, open the spreadsheet
and Paste, the thing I copied from Firefox gets pasted!!
If I then Copy & Paste something in ooo, that works fine, but if I then Copy in
Firefox & try to Paste it in ooo, I get the previous thing I copied in ooo.

It looks like there is a state variable not being defined somewhere, such that
ooo only looks in the Windows Paste buffer at start up and/or fails to look once
it's done an internal copy/paste.

OOO (2.4.1) is configured as "UK"
Set the UK default date format on a cell (DD/MM/YY)
Then type in a US style date e.g. "03/24/2009"
OOO will treat it as a text string rather than a date.

Having re-tested in OOO 3.0.1 I can now tell OOO (right click on the cell >
Format Cells > Numbers > Date) that it's a US format date & it treats it as a
date.
I can then tell OOO that it's a UK date & it formats it in UK format.

When pasting (or typing - as a test to find out why the pasted dates weren't
formatted properly) US format dates (mmdd) into ooo.org running on a UK
platform (ddmm format dates), it recognises the first date in the column as
a date & applies date formatting correctly. The remaining dates in the column
are treated as text fields

When adding the "recent Documents" to the Standard toolbar as a customisation at
the left most possition, it adds just fine, but then doesn't actually do
anything when you click on it

The Recent Documents List appears to update when the file is closed whilst using
OO, but reverts to the old (un-updated) list after the OS is shut down and
rebooted.

This problem first occurred when I update from 2.0.2 to 2.0.3. It went away when
I updated to the latest version of Java (from 1.5.0_07 to 1.5.0_08) & I thought
that had fixed it.
Now that I've updated OO to 2.0.4 the problem is back.

It looks like a bug crept into OO with version 2.0.3 and is still there.

I did a "repair" on ooo 2.0.3 which made no difference.
Last night I did a routine update of Sun Java (from 1.5.0_07 to 1.5.0_08) & it
now seems to be working again. So it looks like it was probably a problem with
Java.

File > Recent Documents list

The list updates just fine as I use OO 2.0.3, and if I close/restart OO it uses
the updated list.
BUT if I close/restart XP, the list reverts back to the old one.
Seems to have come in with 2.0.3 (i.e. it worked fine on 2.0.2 & earlier)
