You know, that AMaViSd itself is _not_ a virus scanner? So maybe you want to buy a commercial virus scanner. If so, buy one whos license allows you to use it in Domino and "outside". > the smtp and the lotus are different servers (both on sles sp3) If you put amavisd in postfix on smtp-sles no internal Mails from one user to another - which stay an the Domino server - will be scanned. If you can live with that - do so. If not, see above. Group securiq.watchdog does a job "like" amavisd for Domino. It is a middleware between mta and scanner. But it is not free. There may be others too. Hans - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc. Still grepping through log files to find problems? Stop. Lotus Notes comes with an LDAP server, so postfix can check for valid users in the pre-queue-phase. rgds Luc - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc. Re: [AMaViS-user] amavis on lotus?
thank you all for your kind answers... i understand the solution is a non-lotus smtp server to process the mail routing... but i have another question regarding your sugestions... can i perhaps have a smtp (postfix) in front of my lotus smtp? something like this.. If there is a general purpose mailer (such as Postfix) sitting in front of lotus, it would be most natural to interface amavisd with MTA. Otherwise you can devise some other setup, amavisd speaks SMTP (or LMTP) both on its input and on its output. Just make sure its SMTP input is not exposed directly to the wild, it needs to be fed by a feed which provides control on the number of concurrent sessons.
