Perhaps she was referring to Clio Karabelias? I thought Vivianne was
only a sound engineer.

Wow, great work suresh. I guess u would not be too keen to give your
secrets, but am I rite to say that you edited the songs, keeping the
non vocal part original and retouching the vocal parts by playing the
intrumental parts yourself as I can hear the MIDI touch to the
instruments. You have big talent... Cool to have you in the group. Im
enjoying the karoke tracks. FYI, I could download the tracks... Is
that ok?

[arr] Do signature tunes for brands work?

2008-07-22 Thread Vithur
Do signature tunes for brands work? Seema Sindhu / New Delhi July 23,
2008, 0:40 IST

Jingles, backed with a good idea, do help etch a brand in consumers' minds.
Perhaps, this is why we still remember the old tunes and the jingles of *Hamara
Bajaj* and Nirma.

The concept is making a comeback with companies like Bajaj, Titan,
Kingfisher, Nirma and Airtel using their old jingles enmeshed with new
visuals.

So, is the concept likely to bring brand recognition for these firms?

Prasoon Joshi, executive chairman (India) and regional executive creative
director (Asia Pacific), McCann-Erickson, says: "Today, the entertainment
quotient in life has gone up. TV, films, online, ringtones, the options are
endless. The shelf life of a campaign or an ad has gone down. The
'melodious' tune, be it in films or ads, which takes its time to gently make
way to your heart is a rarity for these reasons."

Bobby Pawar, chief creative officer, Mudra group, says: "Audio signatures,
such as Titan's Mozart score or Airtel's tune composed by AR Rahman aid
brand recognition and memorability. But, let's remember that these two are
among the few that succeeded and after considerable exposure over a long
period of time."

Pawar says: "Jingles were prevalent when media was not as cluttered as it is
today. Now merely singing the virtues of the product will fail to engage
consumers. *Cadbury*'s or *Hamara Bajaj* are exceptions, where although the
communication had a powerful jingle, it was also driven by a strong idea.
Which is why, they are still memorable."

[arr] Rahman's Wordpress

C M Karunanidhi’s request for A R Rahman

2008

Chief Minister Kalainyar Karunanidhi had hit the bull’s eyes with his
stupendous works with his recent flick Uliyin Osai. The film is successfully
doing well among the masses and now, he has kick-started with his next project
titled ‘Ponner-Shankar’. The film has Prashanth donning dual roles and it’s a
historic period movie about brave brothers raising their voices against the
colonial domination.

Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi had personally invited A.R. Rahman to his
residence. Sources close to him have stated that he has requested Rahman to
score music for this film. Kalainyar had watched period films like Lagaan,
Mangal Pandey and got enthralled with Rahman’s musical score.

Now, Rahman has almost accepted to score music for the film and things would be
confirmed sooner. Some Media quoted A R Rahman visited CM regarding KM music
conservatory. Now it becomes entirely different scenario. So we need to wait n
watch. A week ago Thiyagarajan told that he would be roped in with the
country’s best technicians to make the film as an unforgettable historical
movie in Indian Cinema.

[arr] Re: [Semi-ARR] Credits given to musicians

2008-07-22 Thread anishshreya
Dear Sunil,

Agreed, recognising the effort of musicians are important. But
illayaraja has an orchestra and arr does not. In this case its
becomes difficult to detail all the names in one cd cover.

Yuvan,Harris and our boss works quite similar. Anyway, I am not
comparing Illayaraja with arr coz both are from diffrent schools but
to me though i am a arr fan, in terms of composition raja is way
above. You can see that in shivamani interview where he calls raja as
a genius in compostions and rahman for his technicality expertise.

Cheers

Shashi

+1.

In fact, ARR praised Krishna for selecting good tunes for this movie
(something like that. 'Directors are the ones who select the tunes')
I liked this movie except that boring climax & Newyork Nagaram
picturaization and also this movie was far better than what people like
Vijay, Ajith, Vishal produce. Story was OK but a better screen play could
have made a difference, IMO.

Overall, a great album in tamil from ARR after a long time - I'd even rate
SOK album above Sivaji & God Father.

I still listen to this album and Newyork nagaram atleast 3-4 times in a day.

music was good but how the film butchered the songs.

I particular miss Rasiya. What a lovely Purabiya lyrics. "dil dhadka kya
koi danka baanjega." one of the better ones of Javed. And they sliced it
half.

In JTJYN, I think that dance song (Kahin To???) with Sushant kissing
Aditi, and Jay staring getting uncomfortable was sliced, but I think it
would have a better impact if it had been full. That build up of Imran's
emotions on seeing Aditi dancing with someone else so intimately would
have been very effective. With the sliced songs, the discomfort or anger
of Imran came so suddenly as a surprised.

And, the newly added Jaane tu mera kya hai, is shabbily shot, so much
that even lip sync is missing between song and actress at places (though
the other effects were good).

I mean they mess up films in several ways, and they do it under the
heading of "interest of the film". :-)

I don't know but I guess that ARR's signature putting off some people
might have been major irritant for the newbie's dad who didn't want to
take any risk for his son's and daughter's first film, so he went for a
more safer Anu who didn't have any signature

Now, that ARR has gone hit with and without his signature in JTJYN, he
would be a better choice for newbies' dads. Anu's music - howsoever hit
it might become, doesn't get respect and doesn't last.

One more thought.

Take the above three songs and the following two non-ARR songs:

- Resham si hain ye hawaayein sanam (Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai)

- Goonji si hai saari fizaa jaisi bajti ho (Kyun! Ho Gaya Na)

Now, if I have to arrange them in a list on the basis of having obvious
ARR signature or not, my order will be:

1. "Maan Tujhe Salaam" - definitely have it. No doubt about it.

2. "Sunta hai Mera Khuda" - definitely have it. No doubt about it.

3. Goonji si hai saari fizaa jaisi bajti ho

4. Hawa Sun Hawa

5. Resham si hain ye hawaayein sanam

6. other good non-ARR songs which are even less obvious

I think that in the 3rd song that is non-ARR, the soft start, the sargam
chants at start and in the interludes, the mukhda - all that would an
even stronger indication of it being an ARR song that the indication
given by hawa sun hawa.

No, no, not exacty half-heardted. The song is indeed good. Only that ARR
seems to have consciously left out his stamp from this song. And "ARR
signature is missing" will be noticed by fans like you.

Actually, I eventually saw JTJYN today.

Irrespective of all halla gulla about Pappu, as an ARR fan, I couldn't
prevent myself from noticing that this song is not ARR-stamped. It was
an ordinary type of song dozens of which are doing round composed by
several MDs. No copy, all different. And several good in their own
accord, but still, the bottom line is that they are not at ARR's level.

And Pappu is not at ARR's level. The screen didn't come alive when this
song started like the screen had come alive when muqqala used to start.
The cinema hall didn't become a discotheque like it did as Hello Doctor
progressed.

Still, people liked it and tapped their feet with it and hummed it. That
is great satisfaction.

I thought it over and found that the issue has not at all been discussed
in this group. So I decided to create this thread to make the point
reach home that

- "ARR's signature are missing" has been noticed.

- Lack of signatures got new fans for ARR. You might not realize but
there are people who just don't listen to ARR's song for some reason.
They couldn't identify that this song is ARR's, so listened to it and
started liking it, and when they came to know that it is ARR's, it was
too late to back out.

ARR can now continue leaving out his signatures from some songs. :-)
as an effective marketing strategy.

:-) You forgot the Mangal Pandey mess?

Keep your fingers crossed. All these Aamir and all others are
self-absorbed Narcissus and they wouldn't care for ARR or anybody when
it really matters. Even Mani dropped Thayya Thayya. Even Aamir chopped
songs and deleted songs in JTJYN itself. It all depends on what suits
themselves at a particular time.

btw, did anybody notice that new launches of starsons and stardaughters
have mostly gone to Anu Malik. But still, Aamir took ARR for this launch
of Imran and ARR lived up to that also. That is a good step. I foresee
more new launches having ARR's music nowonwards.

Yaar, why you guys see smoke and fire all the time.

Even in this thread, I wrote: "Hawa, sun hawa is so calm and cool, so
soothing, subtle like Water songs, it is a pleasure to listen to it."

so, I like this song so much. And that is why I am investigating upon it.

I am just saying that ARR's signatures are not so obvious in this song.
That is all. I am not saying that this song is bad or anything like this.

thats not the rank.. thats the citation number that simply tells u
which site they used for reference and this is the site:
http://www.rediff.com/money/2002/sep/21bizsp.htm

that article was written in 2002 after the release of lagaan and it
might not even take into account his tamil works. in india there is no
acceptable method to track the numbers sold contrary to artists in
international countries. so these numbers are estimates. the article
couldve said more than 500 million and ARR would be in the top! i am
sure arr has sold more than 200 millions cds AND cassettes. someone
close to ARR should track the exact number down. i am sure its near
400 million or more.

Re: [arr] Where is Rahman's SIGNATURE in Pappu and Hawa songs?

2008-07-22 Thread V S Rawat
Hi Gomzy, Mahima and Vinayakam,

let me give one parallel.

You must have noticed that the starting part of Hawa sun hawa has
similar arrangement as in

- Sunta hai Mera Khuda (Pukar)
- Maan tujhe Salam (Vandemataram)

That is drum beats on a soft, fluid, vibrating, background, wavy, sound
sort of.

Now, listen to Sunta hai Mera Khuda or Maan tujhe Salam, and you can
make out in flat 2 seconds (or less) that it is ARR's. Nobody else could
do it till now.

But, that same characteristic signature sort of feeling is not so
noticeable in Hawa sun hawa, i think. One has to strive to find that it
is ARR's.

Such a lovely song hawa sun hawa is. Still, I feel some songs by other
MDs had been there not so far below. Of course, no match as such but
somewhat that type. btw, it could be the common singers using similar
span of their voices.

That is why I thought that lack of a clearcut ARR signature is causing
his songs to loose their high, unique level and sounding similar to
other MD's work.

Re: [arr] Where is Rahman's SIGNATURE in Pappu and Hawa songs?

2008-07-22 Thread just an another girl
All,

I am listening to ARR fairly recently only ( past 2 years ) and I haven't
listened to the full spectrum of all his songs like most of you seasoned
listeners here . One week I discover Roja and next week it is ADA and the
week after that it is Duet and then it is Pray for me brother to give you
sample of much I shift across the chronological order of his records.

Coming to Hawa , sun Hawa , I did recognize that it was ARR's quite
distinctively on the first listen. Saying just saying , the seasoned
listeners have the extra burden of being familiar with all his previous
works and expectations are also mile high. So may be it is just a classic
case of wanting more from someone who is delivering consistently , but you
are so used to consistency that it becomes a matter of fact and bar keep
raising and raising from the receiving end !

Another thing I am amazed is , the rate of at which ARR churns out his
songs. It is incredible ! Artists in this side of the world come out with
albums after long gaps and release singles in between , but looking at the
rate he delivers , I am not really sure how he manages. I was also told it
is more do with the movie industry in india which churns out close to 1000
movies a year and that is a loot.
Just my tots. Please dont bash me . I didn't mean any harm !

Re: [arr] ARR....

2008-07-22 Thread Leslie D
That is highly impossible. Main reason being the lack of sales of CDs and
cassettes these days due to piracy and digital downloads.
Also even today the amount of sales generated by these legendary artists is
huge.

This shouldnt be a criteria to judge ARR. ARR is the most successful music
composer from India. Period.

Re: [arr] Where is Rahman's SIGNATURE in Pappu and Hawa songs?

2008-07-22 Thread Gomzy
I can understand for Pappu, but Hawa sun hawa Rawat!

1) The way the flute has been used throughout.
2) The piano bits here and there.
3) ARR was given " Koun hai yada jo har pal aye, yada woh aye tho ake na
jaye"
But he smartly and heavenly uses the same line to be repeated by Alka
after Sonu finishes the same line.
4) The second para he starts with a new tune " meri sadayein , tujho ko
bulaye "ever seen any MD havediff tunes from 2 diff paras ? very
rare!
5) the aja re aja re part, so lovely
6) Usage of the tabla mixed with sizzles.
7) And last but not least, the usage of the flute again, during the end of
the song!

You have been hearing. All you have to do is listen :)

But A R Rahman!

[arr] Vairamuthu Neram ( Snegidhane Song )

2008-07-22 Thread Vithur
In Vairamuthu Neram today,

" A song was composed , and then the director thought of adding some lines
as an intro to the song . So, he pulled some lyrics from my works, and fixed
it to this song. Snegidhane from Alaiypayudhey.. For this song, as an prefix
, they were needing some lyrics . and the lyrics were this.

" Netru Mun Nilavil, Nithirai in Vadivil, Kaatru Nuzhaiva vadhu pol".

After they took only this bit of lyrics from my works, I asked them, as to
why they didnt want to use the full kavidai ( poem ) in the song , and use
only partial lyrics out of it. For that Maniratnam replied, " Sugar should
not be served fully. It would be sweetness, only if consumed a little. ".
Its my good fortune, that the Director considerd the poem as sugar, and I
would be grateful to him for considering so".

( P.S :- Pls email your comments, requests on Vairamuthu Neram to
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

We need to have a lot of lyric discussions by Vairamuthu Sir on ARR 's songs
So, pls email your requests saying so. )

Give their Hindi equivalents and I would comment on their lyrics.

btw, for Thiruda Thiruda, I find a melody even in the choice of words of
Chandralekha. Kunjam Nilavu Kunjam Nirappu and the remaining song sounds
so sweet to utter, even separated from music, even when I don't know
what the words mean and I couldn't even catch them correctly.

That type of melody, built in the lyrics I have seen only in the tamil
original Ottagatta kattiko, and in the malayalam part of Diya Jale. Such
a beauties.

For a long time ARR has not given such effect by lyrics. remind him yaar.

I am confused because my 16 years of ARR experience is has deserted me.

The problem is: I am not able to find Rahman's SIGNATURE in Pappu Can't
Dance of JTJYN and Hawa, sun Hawa of Ada.

Pappu got hit like anything and it feels great that our man did a
Muqqala or a hello doctor again. Hawa, sun hawa is so calm and cool, so
soothing, subtle like Water songs, it is a pleasure to listen to it.

In rest of the songs of these two albums, I could find the telltale ARR

If I am still not clear, you listen to first 1 second of Tu Hi Rey, and
you can tell it it ARR's. No, not memory, but the effect, the sound, the
level. Nobody but ARR could have created it. Nobody could in last 10

I have listened these two songs many times, still, I could not identify

Re: [arr] Semi ARR - ARR not composing for Krishna's next

2008-07-22 Thread Vithur
HI Nagarajji

Director Krishna directed his debut movie Sillenu Oru Kaadhal, and got a
chance to work with ARR in his very first movie .

1. How did you become a Director ?

It was a long cherished dream of about 12 years . But the starting point of
me becoming a director was because of Rahman Sir. I didnt have any idea of
whom to start this film from , and how to go about it . Kalaipuli Dhanu was
the producer. One day, Dhanu Sir called me and told me that an appointment
with Rahman Sir has been sought and he told me to come. I was so happy to
listen to him saying that as I will never know if such a time would ever
happen in the future. It was a very rainy day, and my bike was also giving
me some problems. I came to ARR studio fully drenched. Rahman sir told that
he would listen to the script another day.But I was ready with the script.
And also asked if we could finish it in 15 minutes, as he had some other
commitment to follow. But I took 2 1/2 hrs of his time. He didnt tell
anything, and even switched off his mobile and was listening.

After 2 1/2 hrs, he told to call Dhanu ( Producer ) and asked " When can we
have the composing ?". And that day cannot be forgotten in my life

First I met Rahman sir, and then only was the script finalised with Actor
Surya. we did the recording for Munbe Vaa song .

2. When did you get to hear Rahman Sir songs ?

right from the time Roja , I have been liking Rahman Sir song.

The first song that Rahman Sir gave was Munbe Vaa, and next was Machaikaari.
Picturisation of Rahman Sir songs was a tough challenge for me. He composes
music so superbly, and its a real challenge to picturise them well. When I
had discussion with Rahman Sir, regarding Munbe Vaa song, I told him the
desire of picturising it in that way. So Rahman Sir visualised it before I
could visualise and gave me that wonderful song.

3. Other experiences with ARR ??

Apart from his music, which no can fathom, he is a very good human being.
The thought that I had about him at a distance , got transformed into an
admiration, when I went near him. A man of such heights, behaving like a
very ordinary person increased my admiration levels. He sees everybody as a
human being, irrespective of whosover he may be and whatsoever he may be. I
am also trying my level best to be like ARR

4. David Lee - Fav Hollywood Director

5. future Film - Yen Eppadi Mayakinnai - Its a film produced by Motherland
Pictures .

6. Fav Songs of ARR - Kaadhal Rojave, Vennilave ( Minsarava kanavu ) ,
Maduraikku Pogadhadee ( ATM ) . Athiradhee ( SIVAJEE )

A director must be a good experiencer of music. He should be able to
experience it first. ARR finished all the songs of SOK within 30 minutes.
The first and foremost tune of ARR was liked by me . ARR told me " I do not
know. I liked working with your team. It makes me feel energetic".

Fav Songs in Hindi - Roobaroo ( RDB ) , chaiyya chaiyya, Tanha tanha (
Rangeela ) , Chinamma Chilakkama ( Meenaxi )

Yen Eppadi Mayakinnai - Future film; a Musical Film. I wanted ARR for this.
But he is too busy. But If I approach him, he will not say " NO". But I do
not want to pressurise him for this. But I wanted ARR to light a candle for
my film, as I am inroducing a New Music Director. ARR asked me " Tell me ;
What help you want". I seeked ARR's Blessings for which he told " You will
surely become a good director. Do not worry. My prayers are always there ".

Indeed.

Do Kadam Aur Sahi has such so beautiful, soul touching lyrics and the
song is rendered with a great feeling.

now that Sakkarakatti is having 2 songs of Meenaxi, I think the chances
of Tamil audience getting to hear the remaining songs including this one
have dimmed further.

[arr] Re: Where is Rahman's SIGNATURE in Pappu and Hawa songs?

2008-07-22 Thread badrie
Rawat am with you on this, but not just this, of late in atleast 1 or
2 songs in each album where i think it sounds like a half-hearted
composition.

Like you I adore arr for his very diff style in presenting a simple
song. But I hate to disappoint, except for the brief intro bit where
he sets the temp for Pappu cant dance, the rest is a regular ordinary
song. probably Aamir wanted an ordinary song to exemplify the lyrics.
Papu is a hit more coz of the lyrics and its indirect take on Salman
Khan.

I havent hear the Hawa song, atleast I doesnt have a recall value.
Probably there are still lots of members in this group yearning for
the vintage ARR. But they wont speak out as they fear being bashed by
the rest.

Am glad am not alone in missing the magic from ARR. Lately its either
the lyricists who are letting him down or at times its himself. ARR
needs to be inspired to come up with something out of the ordinary..
That is not being done by the new breed of directors, so every now and
then we have to wait for Ashutosh, Aamir, Mani or Shankar to get the
best. Am sure Ghajini will be good as AAmir will save the best for
himself.

we will wait..

Re: [arr] Where is Rahman's SIGNATURE in Pappu and Hawa songs?

2008-07-22 Thread Vinayakam Murugan
Hello Rawatji,

How would you define the ARR signature? I do agree that most of the
time, we are able to identify that a particular song is by ARR. Is it
the clean arrangements, is it the recording quality, is it the
involved vocals , clarity of thought ? What is it that elevates an ARR
song from the rest? The tune, I think is very important but is not the
only thing.

Warm Regards

[arr] Where is Rahman's SIGNATURE in Pappu and Hawa songs?

2008-07-22 Thread V S Rawat
I am confused because my 16 years of ARR experience is has deserted me.

The problem is: I am not able to find Rahman's SIGNATURE in Pappu Can't
Dance of JTJYN and Hawa, sun Hawa of Ada.

Pappu got hit like anything and it feels great that our man did a
Muqqala or a hello doctor again. Hawa, sun hawa is so calm and cool, so
soothing, subtle like Water songs, it is a pleasure to listen to it.

In rest of the songs of these two albums, I could find the telltale ARR
effect, but not in these two songs. I feel that these songs could have
been as well composed by anyone else. No, not copy, no inspiration, no
nothing. Just a genre, a level, just that others have given songs of
that type in the past.

If I am still not clear, you listen to first 1 second of Tu Hi Rey, and
you can tell it it ARR's. No, not memory, but the effect, the sound, the
level. Nobody but ARR could have created it. Nobody could in last 10
years, even with inspiration from ARR.

I have listened these two songs many times, still, I could not identify
that ARR effect in these two.

Could anyone help me here.

Which part of Pappu and Hawa hold the telltale Signature that ARR is
known for and that no one else could create so far?

Dont worry if you notice those who ever have topped him have started
at least 20 years before him and they have now either stopped
producing music or are no more. So you can safely assume ARR to be #1
in the current list of toppers.

Aamir Khan and PVR Pictures' Abbas Tyrewala directed, JAANE TU...YA JAANE
NA, has swept the youngsters off their feet, mainly because of its fresh and
novel approach. The Imran Khan and Genelia D'Souza starrer has yielded a
distributor's share of over 10 crores in the first week itself.

The 12 crore film (including cost of production and pre-release promotion,
minus the cost of prints, post-release publicity etc.), is expected to yield
a net profit of around 30-35 crores for Aamir Khan Productions and PVR
Pictures. The satellite rights of the film alone could fetch a whopping 15
crores!

The debut directorial venture of well-known writer-lyricist, Abbas Tyrewala,
is easily the biggest hit of the year so far (as we had said last week). Its
revenues are mainly (and predictably) coming in from the multiplexes, with
collections soaring during the weekends.

[arr] Review of Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Naa.

2008-07-22 Thread Vithur
Review of Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Naa.

Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, directed by Abbas Tyrewala and produced by Amir Khan
had been a good attempt. The new performers including Imran Khan (Amir
Khan's relative) and Genelia Dsouza stands out.

Imran (Jai) loved a girl named Aditi, but could not disclose it. He was the
son of Rajput played by Naseerudin Shah who had died. His mother never
wanted him to get involved with violence which was the hallmark of Rajputs.
His ancestors believed that without beating anyone, without riding on horse
and going to jail, no Rajput could claim themselves as true Rajputs.

Jai believed in nonviolence whereas Aditi used to get irritated due to that.
Jai and Aditi with the help of other friends found a true partner for each
other. Jai found a girl who was of good nature but her parents never had
peace at home, they used to fight each other out. Aditi got involved with a
boyfriend who could not forget his own affairs but hated Aditi's friends. He
even slapped Aditi out of frustration.

Jai went to his house, slapped him and got to jail. There Arbaaz Khan and
Sohail Khan helped him to ride on a horse and stop his friend Aditi to go to
US. He went to the airport and brought her back.

The music in the film composed by AR Rehman was melodious including songs
like "pappu cant dance sala", "kabhi kabhi" had become successful after
release of the film. The performance of the young actors and actresses were
impressive.

Although the subject of the film is very simple, due to realistic treatment
of the director the film has ingredients of becoming successful. Imran Khan
and the young performers have future in bollywood films.

Amir Khan should come with more subjects like this in future.

Re: [arr] Semi ARR - ARR not composing for Krishna's next

2008-07-22 Thread Vithur
Pls consider the fact that it was Dir Krishna 's maiden venture... The very
fact that ARR agreed to work with him, proves to say, that the Director has
got a good future or is a good person, who syncs with ARR.

Krishna worked as Asst to Gowtham menon, and the likes.. There was some
problem in the script of SOK, and his picturisation skills, but I dont think
he can be called a dump film maker. If he was a dump film maker, his vibes
with ARR would not have got an awesome number like Munbe Vaa.

[arr] Dacoit Duel partially in Dashavataram

2008-07-22 Thread rayrai2k

I Happened to hear a part of Dacoit Duel (WOHE) is used in
Dashavataram. the scene is when both Kamal & Asin get into the train
and the Feltcher character is driving a Jeep to chase parallel to them.
I don't know if I have heard it right. but I think I did.

Dont worry if you notice those who ever have topped him have started
at least 20 years before him and they have now either stopped
producing music or are no more. So you can safely assume ARR to be #1
in the current list of toppers.

Re: [arr] Semi ARR - ARR not composing for Krishna's next

2008-07-22 Thread Adi
I am so glad ARR gets to dissociate himself, busy schedule or whatever, from
such pretentious directors who claim to make good movies but seldom do. In
the same space ARR can whip up much better music by working with someone new
like Rajkumar Hirani, etc. The movie that Krishna made JoK was really
nowhere near what Tamil movies standards are nowadays. I mean for example:
Mozhi and Chennai 600028 defined the year for me and Tamil movies set a new
standard! I know that I don't decide who ARR works with, but atleast I can
communicate my desire I guess!

What exactly is this?

Doesn't seem to be the film video of the song as your mail suggested.

Some guy, face darkened, sitting and supposedly singing it moving his
face while the song plays.

Whatever. it would help if posters could describe what they are leading
us to. It is a big disappointment to go and follow all the procedure to
get a 3:57 or so mins video only to find that it is not what the
original implied.

[arr] [Semi-ARR] 'Marmayogi' goes to Sweden

2008-07-22 Thread Naveen Naushad
Kollywood is abuzz with rumors that Kamal Haasan would commence shooting for
his next film 'Marmayogi' in exotic locales in Sweden. According to reports,
the movie is set in the sixth century BC and so has taken precise care in
fixing up appropriate locations. A few locations in Sweden appear to be on
the mind of Kamal Haasan.

Touted to be a big-budget film, 'Marmayogi' features Hemamalini in a
prominent role and efforts are on to cast Amitabh Bachchan in it. The crew
would land in Sweden later next month to start shooting. With 'Dasavatharam'
proving to be a major hit for Kamal Haasan, he is all geared up to sustain
the good run in the industry.
Directed and enacted by Kamal Haasan, the movie has musical score by A R
Rahman.

Re: [arr] Re: [Semi-ARR] Credits given to musicians

2008-07-22 Thread Sunil VG
I remember Guitar Prasanna once mentioned on his web site that the July
Madham intro was totally created by ARR. Prasanna just played it and brought
his style into the brilliant piece. A similar statement was made by Naveen
when asked about his heavenly flute bits in ARR songs.

Although ARR gives his instrumentalists the freedom to improvise, it doesn't
take any credit away from. Crediting musicians on album covers was his way
