Just tell them what ARR means to you, what importance he has in your life, how
much you admire him etc etc

Oh also, if you read the rules, they said only Indian citizens or NRI can
participate. I am neither of those; I am Canadian citizen, so sadly cant send
my entry.

RE: [arr] ARR's Interview on Zoom TV

2009-10-20 Thread wiredbeats .

I have seen the whole interview. Nothing special. AR didnt open his mouth
much!. he spoke a little about blue and how its his first time for such a film.
Few words about KM music conservatory that he is usually frustrated ( he used
this word) that he does not have full orchestra in india. Also that he would
like to watch his kids grow while he juggles between cities.
That he felt awkward when he along with pussy cat dolls were asked to open for
Britney Spears show, which is refused to! Thank goodness.
He is quite introvert with many jurnos and given a chance he wont interview
with them i think...anyways nothing special.

Hello Friends

One of the joys of following ARR's music over the past 2 decades has been the
fact that he delivers the unexpected. The unexpected might be pleasant or
unpleasant. However the change or surprise element is much better than
delivering to the same old formula. Let's not read too much into Blue's failure
as a movie or ARR working / not working with certain directors.

Let's keep faith in his judgement and keep enjoying his output.

[arr] Blue: background music rocks!

2009-10-20 Thread kiran injeti
Hi All,
Yes! agree with Prashanth and Balaji's emails below. Today caught the morning
show. I too feel that those who hated the movie just went in with too many
expectations. It is definitely better than any of the recent action flicks. And
it was disappointing to read criticism (i guess in rediff.com) especially of
ARR's background score in the movie. Guess every ARR Fan should watch the movie
just for the background music. It rocks! It is fast paced and you can actually
feel the adrenaline rush in the action sequences just because of the sound.
Stunner! Driving slow on road is going to be difficult whilst listening to the
BGM. :)
For those who do not know, only 4 songs are actually played during the movie +
rehnuma at the start and Fiqrana at the end. Yaar Mila is reduced to just a few
seconds running BGM (not sure if it was edited in the version showed at the
theatre). But, no complaints with the BGM usage.
Waiting for someone to share the BGM.

Cheers to all ARR Fans! Take care!

Regards,
Kiran I K

[arr] missing the heartbeats somewhere

2009-10-20 Thread ravi
We all now know how AR entered the Indian film music whatever said can only
repeat the past. What made his music so special was the unique usage of
instrument and its sound. The flow of water was heard in the songs and the
sound produced when air blast (whistle) was passed through water and then
splashing the water. The list would grow on for its uniqueness. No sound was
left but was used in the songs only to experience how beautiful can it be.
There was something special in AR's music which contributed for the phenomenon
it was Sivamani the master of rhythms. I remember long hours I took to explain
why a song like Chaiyya Chaiyaa could stay ahead in the race against its
contemporary "Chamma Chamma" and the primary key was AR's enigmatic
composition, amazing mixing and engineering and the beats.
Take any song for that matter of AR in the past which had Shivamani programming
the drums & Rhythms it felt very lively.
But in the recent tracks I am missing this. especially in those where Shivamani
wasn't involved. May be that Shivamani has more commitments and has been
travelling a lot which is can be one reason he is absent.
Is there somebody who feels the same?

Hi - Caught up on Blue yday. Went there with zero
expectations, given the rash of adverse reviews on the Net. But I must say I
was pleasantly surprised. While it surely wasnt a "great" movie, it surely
wasnt the "pits" that the reviews were saying and most definitely not a 1 1/2
star that Rajeev Masand had given it. And yes..i surely loved the BG score. I
mean...in an action movie, the BG had to be loud and fast. It cudnt be poignant
and soft!! And the movie was not boring, the stunts were decent and the
photography/ sound effects were top class.

Guys - Those of you who havent yet watched the movie, do check it out. It
surely is no worse that some of the "hits" of recent times!!

Cheers,

Balaji

Dear Rahmaniacs!

Firstly and As always : No disrespect. Only Respect. Original is king

I don't intend to tamper in ANYWAY the original composition. I truly believe it
is a very tough task to mix Rahman's tracks without getting anything wrong.
Also that he himself is not against remixes 'if done well'. I always try in
that direction.

having said this,

I dedicate this version to Rahman and all of you who follow and respect him. I
hope he " Stays humble and still be #1".

I know most of you out there who follow Rahman have not forgotten the soulful
melody of the title track of En Swasa Katre( My Life’s breath : Tamil). This
track is very intense in its melody elements and extremely smooth in
arrangement. No percussions, just the minimum needed for that ambient mood with
great lyrics. It takes quite an effort to judge what to remove from a track for
that extra effect! and It helps to rewind occasionally and check on those
tracks that he did about 8 to 9 years ago to note how ahead of time some of his
compositions were.
With this, i thought of looking at the track in a new perspective.

Just to satisfy my appetite for creativity. I have redone this superb track and
gave an R&B/hip-hop feel while retaining the very essence of the original track
( which i always try to ...). Rahman stays humble and is still #1, and i have
repeated this sample phrase all over this mix because i think he deserves a
mention of this kind.

I hope you like it guys, your feedback is appreciated.
