I think many singers are not happy with the way ARR records the songs, but unlike Abhijeet they dont talk so openly. There was a time when singers like Lata, Rafi and Kishore used to sing for the actor. Rafi singing a song for Shammi would be different from him singing for Dev Anand. A Kishore song for Rajesh Khanna would be distinct from Kishore song for Amitabh. Now there are times when music directors dont tell the singers whom they are singing for. Even Gulzar didnt know for which movie he was writing "Jai Ho". Also when a live orchestra recording happens, everybody has to be perfect. It is not that the flutist can get it right in 20 takes where as violinist gets it right the first time. I was reading about someone who plays a rare instrument whom ARR called and was asked to play whatever he wanted. He recorded all that and was given money and sent off. Yes unlike the old time ARR gives him credit, which is a big thing, but musicians do feel a bit let down. The main reason for this is that times have changed. Now nobody has the patience to wait for a single artist to get his instrument right. MD jumps in and says dont bother, I will fix it later. This reminds me of a saying in Kannada language: "nayi bogaLidre devaloka haLagolla" A literal translation of the above saying would mean "Nothing will happen to the God's world (heaven) if a dog barks". First of all a few disclaimers: I am not calling anyone a dog or anyone God here. These are just metaphors to get a point across. So let us just let this Abhijeet sleep deeply.
