Like or dislike Keady, agree or disagree with him, this is payback for something. I make no charge against the school board and will take them at their word, but this letter on the heels of the UEZ letter just seems fishy to me. Perhaps the letter will indicate what Keady did wrong. I hope it has some substance relating to what the Board objects to in what Keady may have said to the children. Because if it is solely charging that he had no authority to go into the schools, if he got permission from the principal then the issue should be between the Board and the principal. Seems to me like the guy contributes a lot of time to run programs for kids to keep them on the straight and narrow and is now getting tarred and feathered for trying to do some good for the kids after the shooting. I didn't criticize the Board for closing the schools after the shooting although many did. I think Keady did question that as well in the press. Is this payback? Is he an easy target? I don't have anything against the guy, but this seems to be another case of JK fogetting he is now an elected official vs. a private citizen/activist. It is convenient to say there shouldn't be a difference, but there is one. Nobody forced him to the council. He ran for it and needs to understand it comes with a responsibility and accountability that is different that his days as a private citizen, where he could swoop into situations or say anything he wanted. [AsburyPark] Keady Blog
In your blog you say "After the recent shootings, our zany left winger apparently wanted to hold some hippie hug fest with the kids so he can show the world he cares more than the rest of us (so he's a grief counselor now? Boy he really is impressive). Either that or he wants to spread his own curriculum - you know - like tell the kids Christopher Columbus beat up kittens and puppies." I pulled this from the web Jim holds a B.S. in Psychology from St. Joseph's University and a Masters degree in Theology with a concentration in Social Ethics/Pastoral Theology from St. John's University. Jim taught high school religion for 5 years, including in Monmouth County at St. Rose and St. John Vianney. Are you suggesting Jim doesn't have the necessary training to speak to children in schools? What about the millions of show and tells that go on daily across America where fathers and mothers go into the schools to tell kids about their occupations? Do you suggest that they need special training to do so? Do they have more training than Keady? Do you think they need permission of the BOEs? You go onto to say "Keady is fighting back and saying he had the principal's permission." As he should if in fact that is the case. Have you investigated the matter (as a journalist you should) to determine if he had the principal's permission? And if he did, do the laws also require him to have the BOE permission? If that is true, then who made the infraction, Keady or the principal? Isn't the principal supposed to know what approvals are needed? Are you fishing? You continue "Who cares if he used his City Council position to muscle an OK from the principal? It wasn't his place. He isn't qualified to be there." Now you are publicly accusing Keady using undue influence (you characterize this as "muscle") to go into the schools. Do you have the evidence to back this up? Why would you characterize it as such without knowing the specifics? WIl you deny this just as you denied making anti-gay remalrs about Frank and Pallone? More from you "School Board President Robert DiSanto has written a letter chiding him for going to classrooms to lecture without permission" Have you seen this letter? Is it an official communication from the School Board or directly from DiSanto? If it is an official letter from the Board, how did you come to see it? Was it sent to others besides Keady and is it for public perusal? Yahoo! The following post is a paste from another group: An article in the recent "New York Spaces" magazine featuring vacation homes, there is an article titled "Permanent vacation - In New Jersey's Monmouth County, second-home sales are still staying afloat" in goes on to say in part that prices are slightly lower now than in 2005, but area real estate agents point out that last year was a record breaker. Monmouth County has slowed down less than any other county in New Jersey. The article talks about the appeal of the area (the Ocean)and the easy commute to New York city. It mentions Seabright, Spring Lake, Long Branch etc and that there are still communities to be fully discovered -Asbury Park is gaining in popularity. An interest read. The magazine's homepage is here: ~ NEW YORK SPACES ~ But I can't get to the actual article "Permanent Vacation" for some reason. If anyone else can, please send a link. See story below. Is this guy our building inspector as well? I thought I heard that both of our building inspectors are out on disability at the same time. I aslo heard that they may be linked in a relationship and that one went out when they were prohibited from taking home the city car and twisted their ankle moving materials from their personal car to the city car or vice versa. I am sure that Fred and rolemover owing to their positions in the city can set the record straight. Posted by the Asbury Park Press on 11/8/06 BY CAROL GORGA WILLIAMS COASTAL MONMOUTH BUREAU WEST LONG BRANCH Borough officials have hired temporary fill-in workers for Michael Jahn, the controversial building inspector, so Jahn can have surgery, Borough Councilman Joseph C. Woolley announced. Jahn holds other part-time positions, including construction official and subcode official, according to the borough directory, and the three jobs pay him a total of $49,000, a sum some residents have criticized as excessive, considering what they term his limited availability. Woolley said Michael Martin will serve as construction official and building inspector, and Romeo Montano will serve as electrical inspector during the three months that Jahn is expected to need for his recovery from shoulder surgery. Martin will work Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning at 4:45 p.m., until his work is concluded for the day, and Montano would work Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Both are to be paid $25 an hour. Officials said Jahn is not being paid during his sick leave. Council President Richard F. Cooper also announced that the borough is soliciting requests for proposals for professional services, which include legal and engineering services that are up for annual review. The proposals will be reviewed at council meetings in December and awarded at the Jan. 1 organizational meeting. Yahoo! [AsburyPark] Re: Not a Wave but a Tsunami
A friend sent this to me yesterday. I know it has nothing to do with AP, but in light of yesterdays election it gives food for thought... Things you have to believe to be a Republican today. Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary Clinton. Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him, and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion. Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is Communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony. The United States should get out of the United Nations, and our highest national priority is enforcing U.N. resolutions against Iraq. A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but multi-national corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind without regulation. The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches, while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay. If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex. A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our long-time allies, then demand their cooperation and money. Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy, but providing health care to all Americans is socialism. HMOs and insurance companies have the best interests of the public at heart. Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but creationism should be taught in schools. A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable offense, but a president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is solid defense policy. Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet. The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but George Bush's driving record is none of our business. Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an illness and you need our prayers for your recovery. You support states' rights, but the Attorney General can tell states what local voter initiatives they have the right to adopt. What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest, but what Bush did in the '80s is irrelevant. --- In AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com, "asburycheech" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > God bless you, Dan! I see Maureen has posted an old letter found by DAN. "Keady ABC TV Comment Controversy Continues with Discovery of 2003 Letter From Giobbie Recognizing Crime in Asbury Park: dfsavgny Fri Nov 3, 2006 11:40 am (PST) Found this on the web regarding what some perceived to be a negative story about AP in the NYT." Yes there is crime but I don't see a mention of 200 Blood members or any other gangs. Not too sure of the connection becuase noboy is in disagreement that there is crime in Asbury. The question was 200 Blood gang members. Just makes me wonder if a person relied on that site for news, what type of opinion could be made from all the spin. Sponsored LinkGet a free Motorola Razr!
