I thought that this discussion board was a nice place to keep up on current events and also to talk, discuss, and debate things that matter to all of us, in a city, that we all chose to live in...But instead these debates go on for days, with the same 6 people, that tend to attack each other on this forum..It feels more like a gossip column that most people dont understand..Thats whats boring.. And as far as your rape statement, and for calling out the Lanes, you should just ask me what the film was, and I would have let you know that if you saw something that looked like rape on the screen that offended you, it would have been taken off the screen. Bands tend to bring films that fall into the genre of B films, or off the wall artsy things..We do not censor what they chose, and if anyone, complains, of course we take it off. If you did in fact know me, or anyone that works at the Lanes, you would know how silly your paragraph was..Now I am boring myself.. Thanks for the perspective! xoxo Yahoo! wow- Snore..snore..wake us up when we are back to talking about things that matter to the 75% of the people that are on this group.. Columbus and his men raped the Indians,our land, and left us with syphilis and the fact that we celebrate a day after him is bizarro..And I dont have to have years of education to figure that out..And the fact that someone will speak their mind about it, should be commended..and will hopefully change things, cuz lord knows that Asbury Park needs to spend money on a celebration for such an amazing man that we all knew and loved and did sooo much for all of us..give me a break! Someone should contact the historical society and have them go through the places, before someone starts selling all the stuff on ebay, for instance, the carbon arc light movie projectors, which should be saved, since it seems that the "developers" have no use for the buildings.. the fact alone that this artist has provoked you all in talking about art, I think is a success story. Also, you cannot compare the graffiti on the side of a building that is neglected, to your front door at home. The Baronet is not a public building, it is privately owned by developers that have decided to let it become damaged. This would not happen at your home, or on a public building. It is something that was making a statement. And that statement was a catalyst for making someone wake up, which is what street art's function is. It wakes up people that are numb. There was more damage down to the Baronet by the demo company that didnt pay attention to where they backed up their trucks and damaged the side of the building..that caused more damage than spray paint did.. And those of you who still think that street artists and graffiti artists are not "real" artists, check out the show that is currently up at the Tate modern in London. Yahoo! I guess that "they" read the message that the public art piece was trying to convey..I have never seen anything fixed on that building since they have taken it over. Its amazing that they chose to paint the side of the building instead of fix all the broken windows in the front.. Maybe someone should do graffiti that says "fix me"... I guess that it is a positive thing that they are making it pretty before they kill it.. Yahoo!
