Jack,

Thank you for your concern, I sincerely appreciate it. Given my line
of work and the stands I have taken on social justice issues in the past
(both in my professional life and on Council), Mr. DeSeno's ad hominem
attack was not the first, nor will it likely be the last, levied
against me. It is part of the job so to speak and I gain solace and
strength from my belief in social justice warriors that have gone
before me. As imperfect as I am (and believe me, there is no shortage
of examples of my falls from grace), I try to follow the words and
actions of my heroes - St. Ignatius, St. Francis, Archbishop Romero,
Dorothy Day, Jesus of Nazareth. It was Jesus who said:

"But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute
you" - Matthew 5:44 (NIV translation)

I have never seen Mr. DeSeno as an enemy, it is he who has
unfortunately chosen to take that posture regarding me. Perhaps in the
future that will change, I guess time will tell.

For the moment, I sincerely wish you a Merry Christmas Tommy. I pray
that you and your family enjoy this Holyday season and that 2009 brings
you all that you hope for.

Peace, JWK

I posted it, because Jim always made the effort to reach out to us here. Most
of us thanked
him for his service to the city.
When I read JR's rant, it just blew me away because of his use of
"personalization" and
outright character assassination.

[AsburyPark] Re: Justified Right

2007-03-08 Thread justifiedright
Wow Mario after reading this I'm convinced you must be a tenured
public school teacher. I weep for your students.

Can you think for yourself at all? Jump off the Internet and read a
book once in awhile.

Hitler was a Catholic apostate. Once he became an adult, he never
went to a church service again.

The only time he would nod to Christianity in speeches was to
convince people that its purpose was to wipe out Jews. Other
writings reveal his plan to eventually wipe out Christian beliefs in
favor of "natural harmony" That's the cornerstone of secular
humanist beliefs.

Read Hitlers own words and look at his actions to make up your own
mind. He was pure social Darwinist.

And I see you just can't stop posting about me.

Sorry group that you have to read this, but you saw this guy attack
me for even politely ending a conversation telling him to "take
care."

He's full of hate, like his non-religious heroes.

In reference to this profound analysist:

Stalin - Hitler - Mao. About 20 million dead thanks to the 3 non-religious
guys. I'll take the believers as leaders any day.

And then there were those deeply "religious" countries Germany and Italy to
name the most familiar examples of Christian countries that had no problem
cozying up, quite comfortably, with fascism: Hitler, Mussolini. et al.

The folks who conducted the Salem witch trials were very religious. And the
folks who hounded Galileo?

The inquisition? All heavy-duty believers.

And the folks who see Jesus or Mary in Dunkin' Donuts?

And the puritans who beheaded a King; they could only lead for 12 years
before they were booted out.

Beware the self-proclaimed political theorists who provide information "a
mile wide, and an inch shallow."

Sometimes they're merely cherry-picking ideologues.

bad for injecting

Jim,
I salute you and all you do, for your Legion Post, 523 and the VFW, on
Lake Ave and to all of the Veterans Groups in Asbury Park, which
includes the Civil War Re-enactment Group, The Jewish War Veterans,
The Catholic War Veterans, Post 24, The Sons of Italy, Post 266, which
originated in Asbury Park, back in 1922, Post 2639 VFW, in Neptune,
American Legion Post 346, Neptune, The Lions Clubs, Rotary Clubs and
The Elks of Asbury and Neptune. All of the aforementioned groups,
support our troops and veterans. Anyone who sees Old Glory flying in
Asbury Park, have you to thank, for it! Let's hope that the
revelation, of the conditions at the Army Hospital, in Washington,
ensure that this never happens again! God Bless!

Hello Dan,
In reference to your comment:

If you want religion to play a bigger part in government - move to an
Islamist country. The founding fathers were Deists. I almost came to blows
with my
born again sister over this last summer. This country was
founded by people with a Christian background who largely rejected organized
religion.

Dan, as usual, is right on target.

Moreover, Bush’s top political advisers privately ridiculed evangelical
supporters as “nuts” and “goofy” while embracing them in public and using
their votes to help win elections. The former official also writes that the
White
House office of faith-based initiatives, which Bush promoted as a
non-political effort to support religious social service organizations, was
told to
host pre-election events designed to mobilize religious voters who would most
likely favor Republican candidates.

[AsburyPark] Re: Justified Right

2007-03-07 Thread Hinge
I don't want to change the fact that I "live in a religious country"
I just don't want it affecting my life.
As for America being very religious, perhaps it is, but I think that
in many regards, America's religious establishments have made a
mockery of themselves. Take all the priest sex scandals? What about
people like GW who's very religious, but he's lied to the public on a
number of occasions (although maybe he was just relaying info he
thought was true). Before and during the war, GW has brought God into
nearly every speech he's done, yet because of his misguided war, 3100
plus US soldiers, and countless Iraqi's have died. What about the Abu
Grabe abuse? What "god" would let that happen? What about the anti
abortion religious kooks who think it's ok to blow up clinics and harm
innocent people?
As far as i'm concerned, religion is not a fact. I'd be happy to
change that opinion if somebody could provide me with absolute proof,
but I don't see that happening anytime soon

The point is you are living in a religious country. You want to
change that, and that's your right to try. However, you have no
right to stop me from pointing out that your prior posts seemed to
ignore history and law.

America is a very religious country.

You feel religion plays to big a role in our governing. I say its
too small.

To each our own.

[AsburyPark] Re: Justified Right

2007-03-07 Thread Hinge
You are partially right;
"The first amendment to the US Constitution states "Congress shall make no law
respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise
thereof". Both
these clauses, known as the "establishment clause" and the "free exercise
clause"
respectively, are significant. To give perspective, there was a great
conservation of
language in the Bill of Rights; the intention was to avoid creating loopholes,
while still
providing a buffer between the Legislature and the most basic rights of the
people. It is
significant, then, that there are two clauses where one would suffice, were the
intention
only to prevent respect for a religious establishment or only to protect free
exercise."
Even though i'm a non-believer, I respect people that do. I just feel that
religion is playing
way to big a role in our countries politics. That role is making an assumption
that religion
is "fact" and that we are all religious.

Yes, I know that. But can't it also be interperated literally? Seems to me that
the government
is absolutely favoring certain religions. It also seems to me that religious
interference with
the workings of our country are a bad thing. I'm sure i'm gonna get some hate
for this, but I
don't have any religious beliefs at all. In fact, all i've seen in my 45 years
of life so far are
examples of how ridiculous the concept actually is.

Just out of curiosity, when did this country abandon the principle of
"Seperation of Church

offensive.
I read something today about some evangelical guy chiming in about Gulliani's

[AsburyPark] Re: Justified Right

2007-03-07 Thread 2fine4u
Mario,
You have my full support! I also receive how Rep. Pallone votes and
on what issues. His district is large and I receive notifications on
where he is appearing within District 6. Right now, all of the VSO's,
Veteran Service Organizations, are in Washington DC, at their own
expense, to meet with our Representatives and Senators. It's an
annual meeting, same time, every year, but it's ironic, that in light
of the Shaft, our veterans have been receiving at Walter Reed and the
other facilities, I wish I had made preparations to go this year.
Pres. Bush, spoke to the American Legion, yesterday. He is a Member
of Post 77, in San Antonio, Texas, where I saw him address the
Veterans, back in 2001. I also saw him in Charlotte, NC, 2002 and St.
Louis, in 2003. I hope to be in Reno in late summer, for the same.
I hope that in light of the debacle at Walter Reed, better treatment
for those who give their all, in defense of this great nation, for
those who NEVER served, will not have to go through the nightmares,
they have been experiencing. Most people claim to support our troops,
but sit on their hands, while they suffer, after they return home! I
really don't pay too much attention, as far as AP goes, when so many
of our troops, get so little, for giving so much! There is a disabled
veteran, who regularly posts here and he is disrespected and put down
by some of the posters, here! It's a shame and disgraceful, so Mario,
I am WITH you on staying in the loop, about what goes on in our
nations capital and the scandals, finally being revealed, from the
top, down!

I will "take care" when I see fit...

I'll take care to respond here with documentation, voting records, search
results etc. that counter juvenile innuendo, juvenile undocumented
allegations,
juvenile gotchas ( like "your boy Pallone"), juvenile provocations,
juvenile point-scoring, and the like.

And when it suits me, having writ, I'll Move on, "nor all your Piety nor

Hello [EMAIL PROTECTED],
In reference to your comment:

He ignored his Asbury constituent.

I get continual reports from C-Span's MegaVote such as this:

March 5, 2007

In this MegaVote for New Jersey's 6th Congressional District:

Recent Congressional Votes -
House: Employee Free Choice Act

Upcoming Congressional Bills -
Senate: 9/11 Commission Recommendations bill
House: Healthy Communities Water Supply Act of 2007

Recent House Votes_Employee Free Choice Act_
(http://capwiz.com/c-span/issues/votes/?votenum=118&chamber=H&congress=1101) -
Vote Passed (241-185, 8
Not Voting)

This bill is intended to make it easier for a plant to unionize and would
end the right of employers to request secret-ballot elections.

Rep. Frank Pallone Jr. voted YES..

_Small Business Tax Relief Act_
(http://capwiz.com/c-span/issues/votes/?votenum=102&chamber=H&congress=1101) -
Vote Passed (360-45, 28 Not Voting)

The House approved this $1.3 billion package of small business tax breaks
intended to be combined with the minimum wage increase.

Rep. Frank Pallone Jr. voted YES..

And lots more I approve of here:
_http://www.ontheissues.org/NJ/Frank_Pallone.htm_
(http://www.ontheissues.org/NJ/Frank_Pallone.htm)

His voting record is super fine with me.

Regarding the slight regarding my inquiry about the remarks you allege he
made, it's petty in the grand scheme of things. Petty Outrage is your game,
not mine.

It's not changing the subject Mario. In case you missed it, the
subject of Dan's post is not Coulter's comment - his subject is
trying to make me own her comment because we both call ourselves
conservative.

I pointed out that I no more own her comment than Democrat Dan owns
everything Democrat Hillary says, including her racist remarks.

Clearly the same topic.

By the way Mario - how'd you make out with your boy Frank Pallone
regarding that inquiry you made to him all those months back?
Didn't answer you, huh.

He ignored his Asbury constituent. Try changing your address and
see if answers.

Yes, but what does me having written about Edwards have to do with
antyhing? Thousands of journalists have written about him. I'm not
following you - anyone who has ever written about him has to weigh
in on the Coulter thing? I don't get it.

>Now, Coultergeist is the annointed angel of the conservative

Why do you have to get me started? No one on this board wants to
read this. However, here it goes.

You're doing the same thing to conservatives the media does to us.
The media gets to pick who represents conservatives by labeling
them. They train the viewers to do the same.

Try this. You don't have to share the results. Very quickly, write
down the name of 5 current day examples of conservatives. Also
quickly, write down 5 current liberals.

Most people for conservatives write down people who don't hold
office. Usual you will get answers like Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter,
Falwell, Dobson, Robertson, etc.

For liberals though, most people jot down elected people - Kennedy,
Kucinich, Dean, Clinton, Carter, etc.

There is a huge difference.

Political pundits have no responsibility for policy, so they can say
things that don't translate to governing. The media goes to
Robertson, Dobson, Coulter, etc. not in search of conservative
views, but for a sound bite because they may say something nutty.

Why don't they go to conservative office holders, like my own
congressman Chris Smith?

Still not conviced? Try this on. Watch TV and see anyone with a
conservative point of view be introduced as "consrevative columnist"
or "conservative host' etc. Have you ever seen Jesse Jackson, Frank
Rich or Paul Krugman with the word "liberal" written before their
name? Never.

The effect that the media is going for is to present the way left
views as middle of the road (because those guys go unlabeled) but
make sure those on the right are clearly labeled.

Suckers fall for it. I don't.

2007-03-06 Thread justifiedright
She's nuts isn't she?

No one is more upset with her than the conservatives that run the CPAC
event.

Here we are trying to make America know us, like us and trust us as a
big tent, and she comes along and reinforces an old stereotype about
us.

There were wonderful things said at that weekend that should be out
there on the news, but Coulter dropped a nuclear bomb and took it all
away from us. Very dumb. More hurtful to us than to Edwards and gays
combined. We trusted her.

For how we feel about it, see my friend Michelle Malkin's site at this
link: http://michellemalkin.com/archives/006987.htm

While there, click on the link that says "What conservative bloggers
think" and read that post.

I don't think Coulter will be back. She jumped the shark.

CPAC is a family event. It is designed to let the world know us - and
that isn't us. No way we're going to have that nonsense there.
