[AsburyPark] Re: Traffic Ticket prices have been increased - Why is it

That is one of my
favorite tickets.  Yet, when you give one out, often you get the “don’t
you have a crime to stop” reply.

And why is it that you only have to drive five minutes in any direction in
Monmouth County to see someone driving while
talking on a cell phone? How
often have you seen someone pulled over for that traffic offense?

“why is it that DWI checks rarely, if ever, catch
police officers known to become impaired at the same bars as other citizens”

I have to disagree with this statement.  I know a few police
officers that have been arrested for DWI.  Actually, I know more police
officers than Joe Citizen friends.  This is not the Wild West anymore.

2006-07-20 Thread Skip Bernstein
`"I prefer to go to an area of high accident occurrences and strictly
enforce the traffic law between 911 calls to help curb future
accidents and it works. Yet, the blanket statements you made like "it
does put pressure on officers at certain times to charge people they
KNOW didn't do anything wrong" reflect badly upon all police officers.
Regarding all police officers in a negative light due to a couple of
negative experiences…"'

Why is it that enforcement appears to be strictest not where danger
lurks but rather where "fish in the barrel" are known to congregate;
why is it that DWI checks rarely, if ever, catch police officers known
to become impaired at the same bars as other citizens; why it that
ticketing and the ballooning revenues generated appear to be issued
primarily for infractions that are easily metered or calibrated rather
than the more difficult tail-gating, sleeping in the passing lanes, or
reading, writing and applying makeup while behind the wheel?
