[AsburyPark] Schools ?
Has anyone ever tracked a student who has traveled from PRE-K to Graduation in AP? In other words, can someone break down some data that shows over the past 12-14 years: 1. Longevity of kids in the school system (exmaple - what grade they started in the system at - Pre-k, 4th grade, 9th grade etc) 2. If they came in the system, where did they come from (higher performing district/lesser quality...?) 3. If they left the school system and moved onto another, how'd they do? You get the idea. Of course you can add more. That would make some cool research - and may yield some real info. I still want to see the basic data - a kid from PRE-K to Graduation - how did they fare? Like a teacher told me in HOLMDEL - parents TRY to get their kids placed in Special ed - so their kids get more "personal" time - time to take tests, excuses for being out not doing hw etc - NOT the real intent of the classes. Just an example. Yahoo! Re: [AsburyPark] schools...
I'm still curious about something. Say the schools close, what happens next? You can't charter the entire district, so where do they go? I don't know of a single district in the area that will accept them. I do know of 3 districts off the bat that will not accept themOcean - NO. Long Branch - NOPE, Tinton Falls - Not Happening So what's the solution if we close them? After reading what Oak posted, I'm in awe that no one with a brain has stepped in, anyone with half an education can see the waste taking place I've never been interested in school board meetings but I am now.does anyone know when they take place? Kevin, you should be thanking God in Long Branch for all the state money they received. I went by the new high school (I tr to avoid the route, cause it pisses me off) and got to look at those amazing schools - the middle and high. They should get awards for architecture, money spent in excess. Those places should be the envy of any university, let alone public school. And bull dozers are still working. I read the article today about the school in app. Can someone shine some lights on this? DiSanto is president of the board and is now in his 2nd term? He was part of the group that renewed Lewis' contract 1 year early on his origibal 3 year contract and signed him to 4 years. I believe I read that part of the buyout was 3 years left on the currect contract. So if my math was correct, around now the original contract would expire and a buy out would not be needed. Anyway what gets me is he is quoted saying that "for the first time they can do something positive". I may not know all the facts and that is the reason for this post. Why renew contract with Lewis if nothing positive was going on. From viewing the school scores we can see that was the case. The children's future is at stake here. >From APP "As the chances of Antonio Lewis, who earned $182,326 in the past school year, holding on to his job faded in recent weeks, Lewis received an Aug. 15 letter commending the district's efforts to create a safe learning environment at the middle school." How do you pay that kind of money for these results? Granted, a school system cannot be run like a private business but paying this salary for this is nuts. I am sure you could get someone much cheaper for the same failure rate. Yahoo! another glowing report of our wonderful school district in todays paper, when will it end? not till people who are so quick to attack mayor and council, take on the same initative to attack the school bd. many do not want to because they are our friends, that is not a good reason, sometimes it takes a friend to tell one the truth. And the truth is you got to say no to all the wasteful b.s. spending. Doc. Lewis is a nice guy, but this Svengali trance he has over intelligent well intentioned volunteers is scary. is he a puppetmaster? Has he lost a vote on any of his reccomendations in the last two years? how many more millions will be wasted? how many more children will be robbed of a good education. regionalization is the answer, but no adiministrator is ever going to recommend it, because their incompetent cronies will be unemployed. Any thoughts? Can Frank D'Allesandro give the pros and cons? Asbury to hold forum on restructuring Posted by the Asbury Park Press on 01/31/06 ASBURY PARK: A presentation of the possibilities of restructuring the school district to kindergarten-through-eighth-grade schools with the high school instead of having a middle school will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Bradley Elementary School, Third Avenue. everyone is entitled to their opinion, i agree with dfsavgny, it is part soic-eco., i know asburycheech is a dedicated hard working VOLUNTEER, i also know there is a an election every April, and all the people who sit back and criticize, can run and cnange the wrongs, which is a lot easier to talk about than doing, however to do so you must live in this great City.
