[SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Re: Audiophile Version
What if it cost $5000? Still want one? As soon as it's released, remember to immediately get the MarkII into development to be released 12-18 months afterward. At the same time start getting the marketing guys up to speed in audiophile jargon in preparation of the MarkII. It won't be just improved, but will be "significantly" improved in all the usual ways - air, detail, bass extension, with less grain, much more analog sounding. Price? Practically no price increase at all, beyond inflation - $5700. Won't really matter how small the market. Sell a couple hundred and you'll do well. -- JJZolx Jim JJZolx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=24041 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles

Yeah announcing a replacement device too early can seriously kill sales of your current product. An audiophile versiion could be considered a complimentary product, but to be honest i think there are others that would be higher volume and perhaps more profitable for SD. I'm surprised that a dealer would be speaking about a new product so early if it isn't going to be demoes until October. -- funkstar funkstar's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2335 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=24041 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles

Mike, I think I might settle for the Classic One MK3 which is the latest released. Also I am doing research on the speaker. Also I like the speakers to be a floor stand type but has to be to compact because my room is quite small. You have any suggestion for the speakers? My question was a result of a post by a dealer on another forum, who said the Audiophoile version of the SB should be out soon and will have a clock input as well as a digitial input for your CD player or transport. He's planning to show it at the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest(10/20/06). -- mauidan mauidan's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1679 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=24041 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles

My SB2 easily bested the sound quality of both my Sony CDP's 9000ES and 999ES...mid level units for sure, but I was really shocked at how noticeable an improvement the SB2 was. I sold both CDP's over the last 6 months and invested the $$$ in oop DCC discs on eBay. ;) -- hal9000 hal9000's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=983 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=23948 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles

The squeezebox is decent sounding right out of the box, bettering my older proceed pcd by a handsome margin. but its real secret is that although the squeezebox's dac section isnt SOTA, the transport aspects are! I have had a few dacs paired with it over the last few days and its truley amazing, besting some very nice transports and cd players. What im hearing now would lead me to believe (although i havent tested this) that a stock SB3 with a nice dac would absolutly steamroll an analoge modded SB3. not in all cases mind you, if you paired a crappy old dac with it, im sure the modded sb3 would be nicer, but if i were to go out and demo a couple 5-600 dollar dacs, vs spending the cash on the mods, i think i know what would win :) -- RooX RooX's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=5130 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=23948 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles

I have just bought a Bryston 4b sst power amp.
