[SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Another Elpac Power Supply Option
For those of you looking to upgrade the power supply to your Squeezebox, but are having a hard time finding the Elpac WM075-1950-760, I've discovered another option that might be even better. It's the Elpac WM101-1950. I just picked up a new-old-stock unit off eBay for $25 plus $10 shipping, and I'm listening to it right now. (Too early to comment on whether the audio quality is noticably better than the stock PS, but it sure sounds good through my analog outputs.) The WM101 is rated for 2A at +5V. It's a hefty sucker, over 4x3x2 inches, with a grounded plug. The DC output cord is much beefier than one on the stock unit, it's actually 18 gauge zip cord. And the tip is plug-and-play with my Squeezebox 3. Elpac does not have specs on this supply listed anywhere that I could find. I suspect it was custom built for a particular OEM product. But it works great with SB3. -- TiredLegs TiredLegs's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6201 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=25497 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles

In your case, adding them would simply mean you won't be able to turn up your music enough (based on what you say above), so you don't need or want them. The discussion above was for people with systems where max SB volume would be earsplitting and might damage the speakers. -- opaqueice opaqueice's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4234 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=24445 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles

It would be a > complete waste of a very nice system not to do this correctly! Hello All, I have a question concerning the external attenuators. My current setup is a Musical Fidelity A3CR power amplifier and Epos 12.2 speakers with my Squeezebox connected directly to the power amp. I find with the default settings (preamp settings is set to 0) I must set the squeezebox volume to 55%-65% to have the output volume at a decent listening level and for an 'engaging level' the volume level is at 75%-85%. So my question is should i still purchase attenuators for my amplifier squeezebox given that the squeezebox seems by default well matched to my system? (note i plan on purchasing a pre-amplifier / dac in the future) -best -gwak -- gwak gwak's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=5809 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=24445 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles

Host SlimServer for the SB when TV is off 2. Serve music, photos, videos and other online services when TV is on. One of many reasons I > applaud to Squeezebox. I don't mind listening with the Macs on certainly. They are in general the quietest pre-built computers I've had, and the Mini is even quieter than PC's I've spent a lot of time and effort silencing. I get a display I don't have to squint at, and I can always shut down the LCD TV (which doesn't 'fan'noticeably, this required reasonably careful choice) if I don't need to look at it. If I need to re-navigate, I turn on the TV instead of squinting at the Squeezebox dsplay from across the room. And when the TV is turned on, Front Row is also significantly more controllable than the SB's display/remote combination. And since we're talking audiophile check out the specs on the RME Fireface, which is my audio front-end of choice. Balanced audio feeds out to the integrated amp I use in one room, and the clock's capabilities are useful for linking into my 'main rig'. -- rhyzome rhyzome's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6370 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=24957 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
