You might be right not to post if you can't take questions from people.
I've taken much more than you did in this post and it's just human
nature. They are going to ask questions, some that won't fit you
criteria of necessary questions but they are anyway to them. No need
to throw a fit over it, just realize that they have seen too many
claims in the past not to question you. I really didn't see anything
personal, they just wanted to know the answers my friend.

Er, as an audiophile, you don't want an inexpensive computer UPS. There
are three different designs, some well suitable for computers but not at
all suitable for audio.

You must have one with true sine wave output. And you want a design that
constantly charges the battery and simultaneously outputs the sine wave.

A lot of computer UPS simply switch quickly from mains to battery, which
really means they just push through whatever cruft is on the mains to
your audio gear. That gains nothing.

I had to laugh at this - and I'm guilty, too. Yes, most modern
audiophiles are not engineers or even tinkerers. I attribute that to
the vast array of products out there and the credit card-fueled search
for a holy grail. Easier to junk last year's amp or DAC or wire and
get the latest rave reviewed component. Most don't have the time or
motivation to be do-it-yourselfers.

Still, a lot can be done to improve the sound just by listening and
tweaking the room, the speaker position, damping vibrations, etc. and
most audiophiles are certainly capable of this.

But really the audio market has never been better for the person like
myself who has a limited budget, does a lot of reading and research,
and is willing to wait for a product or technology to come to his price
point. You really can assemble a great-sounding system for modest
money, and then get off the treadmill and just enjoy the music without
a lot of tinkering or worrying about what the cutting edge is up to.

I've built a couple pairs of speakers from scratch in my young and poor
days, and they were decent - but I won't kid myself by thinking I can
build a better speaker for $80 than my current Omnisat.

thought I had better put up the original.

I'm clearly missing something here, perhaps because the original couple
of posts have been removed, but I don't understand the pictures. Does
the mod consist of installing the specified transformer inside the SB3,
inside an external adapter, or both?

I'm using an NAD T-754 home theater receiver, which has a 6-channels of
amplification at 70 watts per channel. NAD rates their amps
conservatively, with all channels driven, and it can sustain peaks of
200+ watts. It's a good, honest amp that doesn't wimp out during
Sabbath albums or planet-busting movie explosions. Sounds good at low
volumes, too.

AudioAdvisor is selling this receiver for $499, less than half the
$1099 list price. I paid $800 for mine and it was well worth it at
that price. $499 is a steal if you're looking for a great receiver.
Comes with an excellent learning remote, too.

http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=NAT754

I'm also thinking the NAD might help your midrange problem. I hear no
lack of mids or lower mids in my system; the NAD matches well with the
Omnisats. I'm using an 80Hz crossover point.
