[SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Tomato router - optimisations for Touch?

2011-08-09 Thread alec_cat

Hi guys, I was reading some of Soundcheck's blog on network settings for
the Touch and was thinking about QoS and such, as my router is running
Tomato.

I'm not au fait at fiddling with the Tomato settings and was wondering
if any Tomato experts could help suggest any settings that may help
with streaming?

[SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Logitech offer: 50% off any one item

2011-08-09 Thread desertrat58

Got an email from Logitech today that gives a discount code for 50% off
any one item bought through their website (in the USA at least). Good
until August 15.

Time to set up that garage system. Gonna get a Touch for ~$150.

BTW, the Transporter SE at ~$1300 list, would be only ~$650...

Sheesh, maybe I should get one of those. For a garage...?

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Touch: Upsampling with sox?

2011-08-09 Thread JohnSwenson

What format is the file? Are you running an external SBS or are you
plugging in a USB drive to the Touch? Dou you get that message from the
Touch or from the server?

The Touch can definately play 88.2 files, and nothing in either
Soundcheck's nor Dynaudiorules mods changes anything related to sample
rate.

I'm having a hard time figuring out how you would get that message. The
file might be corrupt and give the wrong sample rate, but that should
get caught by the server and converted to a supported sample rate (IF
running an external SBS). The only other possibility I can think of is
if you have SOX setup to change the sample rate to something the Touch
doesn't support.

I would check the server log and the Touch log to see if there are any
errors reported when trying to play this file.

The server log is listed in the server web interface somewhere under
the advanced setup menu.

On the Touch you need to SSH into the Touch (use PuTTY on windows) and

cd /var/log
less messages

When done type q then exit to get out.

2011-08-09 Thread ezzy

With help from dynaudiorules I manage to solve hanging problem.
Be aware of pasting empty spaces inside of file.
If you paste empty row in the end of file, be prepare to do factory
default.
Btw nice improvment in soundstage and fluidness.
My setup for SPDIF is 51.

[SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Transporter: No skip/fwd with 7.6.1?

2011-08-09 Thread Meridion

After upgrading to 7.6.1 - r33004 (on unbuntu), the skip/fwd [>>]
function on my transporter does not seem to work properly anymore. It
just restarts the running song. Everything else, including back/rew
[<<], is still fully functional.

I tried my harmony, the original remote, front button and
SqueezeCommander with the same result.

The skip/next still works on my Boom, though!

Any hint, what the problem could be?

Thanks John - this is very interesting. I think I have managed to find
the USB process id (305 on my Touch), although I haven't had the chance
yet to do much listening.

I am also using a HRT (the new II+). With Soundcheck's mods applied, I
find the results better than any dac I have tried via spdif, so I would
love to be able to have a stable 24 bit capability. Please do keep us
posted on your progress with this.

Just a small question. I've got some albums that I've bought as 88.2,
but my Touch (latest FW with your Toolbox2.0 + DynaudioRules's mods)
reports "unsupported sample rate".
