More like a science fiction comedy. But please let's not get too down
on them. I've definitely noticed that my zeroes are more round and my
ones are straighter ever since I traded in my stock USB cables for $200
USB cables.

Old USB cable: zero = :(

New USB cable: zero = :)

Old USB: one = Z

new USB cable: one = 1

What more proof would one want or need?

No damage, but when the task you set on high priority hangs or behaves
wrong you may won´t be able to even start the Task Manager in Windows.
Maybe data-loss can occure when another application accessed data in
this moment. This was most problematic with single core CPUs. These
days we have multi-cores but also applications that are multi-threaded
:)

At least this is still my understanding of basic computing. Expecting
sound changes here is at least "terrific" until your hardware is not
ready for the the task.

what really gets me is Hi Fi News: they have people like Jim Lesurf who
knows exactly what he's talking about and talks nothing but sense, then
Keith Howard who appears to be very technically sound but has become a
fan of NOS dacs, and then you have this month someone giving a rave
review to a device which supposedly converts all the odd harmonic
distortion of a digtal device to second harmonic. I mean if you could
identify all the odd harmonic distortion why wouldn't you get rid of
it?

That may be true but here in the States we can claim the leading loony
all to ourselves - the infamous Harry Pearson.

And of course HP is followed closely by Stereophile's own Michael
Fremer. Yes it is possible to demagnetize vinyl!

No I didn't! - I said I had a new linear (Teddy Pardo / Audiocom). It
does sound nice; so did the old one. I'm not sure it's worth the £275
one would normally have to spend to buy one though...
I haven't done any proper testing on it yet. There's only so much
time/money...
I'm waiting to get a second Touch to act as a "control".

Edit: It does look good.

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Transporter wont stream

2011-09-12 Thread RonM

Sounds like a difficult problem, but just a note about a scare I had on
the weekend. . .

I had my Boom playing on the deck, and went inside and turned on the
TP, which is normally synced to the Boom. Nothing. No sound, nothing.
Turned on, turned off, etc etc.

Got panicked, until I realized that the audio on the TP had been turned
down, as had the volume on the stereo. The little bit that was coming
through was drowned out by the sound from the Boom leaking through the
door to the deck.

All is now well.

R.

If anyone thinks they can sort this out over the phone, I am MORE than
willing to give my number out or call. I would much rather keep this

also believe that is has to be a simple solution. After talking to the
Help Center at Logitech and doing all the resets, I have no alternative
but to return upon their request since it could not be solved with a

Then again, this is almost certainly not a hardware issue, i.e. not
something a replacement will sort out. If other ports are working and
not port 9000, then in all likeliness it's a configuration issue
somewhere.
