Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Transporter V 2.2 versus V 2.5
Definitely not. They removed the knob when they build a last set of Transporters from leftover parts and didn't have any knobs left. No new boards built for that. --- learn more about iPeng, the iPhone and iPad remote for the Squeezebox and Logitech UE Smart Radio as well as iPeng Party, the free Party-App, at penguinlovesmusic.com *New: iPeng 7, the Universal App for iOS 7* pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102078 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles

I would assume that the first one was version 1.0. So there may be 15 or more versions. :) JJZolx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102078 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles

Also, it never was Logitech's official support forum. Hello, am I wrong or aren´t people from Logitech reading and writing in this forum? So I would guess that at least they should know about the fact and possible differences. Why should there be two versions and no differences between them? It seems really odd to me that I should be the first and only person who has stumbled about this mistery. If one needs further proof of just how fast and far to run remember that the BDP series is loved by almost all the editors and writers at all audiophile publications - you know that same individuals who feel that Squeezeboxes are only good for streaming low bit rate internet audio for background listening. Must be the Squeezeboxes lack of front panels milled from a billet of solid aircraft grade aluminum since any self respecting audiophile knows just how good solid aircraft grade aluminum sounds. While I appreciate there's more to it but it sounds suspiciously like a RPI running picoreplayer in a nice case, or at least similar functionality. this is interesting, from Bryston: - Features include UPnP compatibility, *Squeezebox® emulation* and DoP (DSD over PCM), while the firmware is easily accessible from most web browsers. Control is via Apple or Android phones and tablets with a Bryston interface or several third-party apps.- http://audiofi.net/2014/09/bryston-launches-bdp-1usb-player/ -- 4 TB Drobo-->FW 800-->mac mini-->Ethernet Transporter--> Wireworld Eclipse 6 coax-->Meridian G61 G61--> Nordost Red Dawn-->Primare 30.3 Primare-->Ocos--Vienna Acoustics Beethoven/Maestro netchord's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=21002 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100948 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles

Julf wrote: > Just remember that a "review" on computeraudiophile.com is... well... a > "review". :) True but when reading a "review" in any and all audiophile publications, be they print or online, one can very easily ignore all the subjective opinions regarding sound quality and just focus on the other issues discussed and described, such as useability, features, physical dimensions, etc. So for example in the case of the SOtM sMS-100 Mini Server "review" one learns that this little device appears to be a $450 Squeezebox compatible "receiver" without an internal DAC, without any digital outputs other than USB and without wi-fi streaming - basically it's an Ethernet to USB digital audio converter which can use LMS. All the sound quality mumbo jumbo can be safely and completely ignored. But remember that it does have one big advantage over the Squeezebox line of audio streaming devices - the SOtM sMS-100 Mini Server is still in production whereas all of the various Squeezebox devices are no longer being made.
